Wyclef Talks Haitian Presidential Candidacy

Although he hasn't officially announced his candidacy, Wyclef Jean is talking about the good he could do for Haiti.
"I want to be part of a different kind of celebrity," said Jean, "one that thinks not just about charity but policy."
In a country where half the population is under 25, he might even get the chance. The singer is assumed to announce his intentions to run right before the deadline on August 7th.
Wyclef said:
"If not for the earthquake, I probably would have waited another 10 years before doing this. The quake drove home to me that Haiti can't wait another 10 years for us to bring it into the 21st century. If I can't take five years out to serve my country as President, then everything I've been singing about, like equal rights, doesn't mean anything."
He hopes to keep the media focused on Haiti and all of the work that still need to be done.
Go get 'em, honey!
