Donald Trump Drops The Ball On Declaring June Pride Month — As Twitter Skewers Ivanka's Shoutout To Her 'LGBTQ Friends'!

no title

Donald Trump has long claimed to be an LGBTQ ally — but he's really dropping the ball in showing he actually gives a shit about the community!

June 1 marks the beginning of Pride Month, a celebration that POTUS has yet to acknowledge.

In what could be a crucial point in Trump's Presidency — the chance to become the first Republican president to declare June as Pride Month — the Big Cheeto has kept more awkwardly silent than Mike Pence at a Hamilton performance.

President Bill Clinton was the first POTUS to acknowledge Pride Month. And while the tradition didn't catch on with the memorably anti-LGBT George W. Bush, Barack Obama took the proclamation a step further during his terms by holding an annual White House reception to celebrate LGBT activists.

Even more infuriating, former Obama LGBTQ communications liaison Shin Inouye pointed out that Trump had issued several other proclamations for June this week, like "National Homeownership Month" and "African-American Music Appreciation Month" – but nothing for Pride.

Not every member of the First Family has kept deafeningly silent on the subject, however. Every-woman and woke activist Ivanka Trump gave a shout out to her "LGBTQ friends" on Twitter, which was returned with Twiticism referencing her history of being tone-deaf and complicit in supporting her father's agenda.

Also, what LGBTQ friends, Ivanka? LOL…

Ch-ch-check out Twitter's responses to the Trump family's reactions — and non-reactions — to Pride Month (below)!

Hillary Clinton Wishes All Humans A Happy Pride Month!

The world is rapidly ch-ch-changin’ for the better!

'Cause you really can’t argue that respect and tolerance is better than fear, prejudice, and hatred…

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently reenforced President Obama’s sentiment of equal rights for all in a short & sweet video-message in honor of Pride Month (June).

And we love love LOVE that she uses the term HUMANS instead of AMERICANS!!! It really is silly to think a land border makes you better/inherently different than someone on a different piece of land…

Celebrate Pride with Hillary (above), and share a little love for allll your fellow humans across the PLANET!

Obama Administration Launches LGBT Website, Leaves Marriage Equality Out Again!

Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikBarack ObamaLGBT

barack obama launches lgbt website

This is a positive step in many ways, but Obama STILL refuses to give the marriage equality issue the attention it needs!

Earlier this week, President Barack Obama issued a proclamation for LGBT Pride Month, which tackled a bunch of important issues in the LGBT community, BUT he didn't mention marriage equality OR the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Now, Obama's administration has launched a website dedicated to the LGBT issues mentioned in his proclamation, but marriage equality is STILL not being addressed!

With regards to the marriage equality issue, Obama has said that "he is 'evolving' on and 'wrestling' with the issue."

Here's what White House press secretary Jay Carney has said about why Obama hasn't announced public support for marriage equality:

"The president has said in the past what his position is. It hasn’t changed. And if it changes, I’m sure he’ll let you all know."

We support the launch of the Obama administration's website, but if they're going to put this much effort into supporting the LGBT community, why not go all the way and back marriage equality as well? Think about it, Obama!

Obama Issues A Proclamation For LGBT Pride Month, Doesn't Mention Marriage Equality

barack obama makes proclamation for lgbt pride month

It's a start…but we need more!

Yesterday, President Barack Obama issued a proclamation for LGBT Pride Month, which tackled a bunch of important issues in the LGBT community, BUT he didn't mention marriage equality OR the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

In his defense, he made reference to crucial issues including "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT), workplace discrimination, and hate crimes, but we're disappointed that marriage equality didn't make its way into this proclamation.

Check out Obama's full proclamation AFTER THE JUMP and let us know what U think!
