Prime Suspect Left Off Mid-Season Schedule - Probably Canceled!

prime suspect shelving

It's a shitty day for Maria Bello!

We skimmed a little on this when we were telling you about the TRAGEDY that was NBC shelving Community, but yeah, they're shelving this one too…

Prime Suspect was left off the schedule when NBC did their mid-season inventory. They're to film two more episodes for the season and then…well…that's probably it.

Of course, there's always the chance they'll pick it back up for next season, but c'mon. We're all smarter than that!

UGH! That hipster Whitney!

NBC Midseason Line-Up Shocker! Community Shelved!

Ugh! We are blaming Whitney for this nonsense!

Although Community is arguably one of the best-written, funniest comedies on television, NBC pulled one hell of a switch-up for its mid-season schedule, which has left the series SHELVED indefinitely!

Starting Thursday, January 12th, 30 Rock will take its place in the 8pm time slot, while Up All Night will move to Whitney's spot at 9:30pm. That mess will instead be moved to Wednesdays at 8pm, to be followed by the equally disastrous-looking Are You There, Chelsea, formerly titled Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea.

Oh yeah, and that Maria Bello Prime Suspect show is gone, too. Back to Community, though -

The cast and crew seem to be just as shocked as everyone by the change, and HIGHlariously took to Twitter to discuss!

Much Ado About Maria Bello's Hat

maria-bello-prime-suspect-hat.jpg

TV critics are really irritated by Maria Bello's fedora in the new NBC drama Prime Suspect and they're doing everything in their power to get it to go away.

First, they went to NBC's head of entertainment Robert Greenblatt, who said:

"I like the hat. It’s iconic and, you know … [1970s Kojak star] Telly Savalas, didn’t he have a hat? … I hope you all write about the hat."

Not happy with that answer, they moved on to executive producer Alexandra Cunningham and told her it's both distracting and outdated. Her response?

"It’s very accurate in terms of NYPD detectives. They all seem to wear hats. I don’t know whether it’s a weather thing or whether it’s one of the only fashion statements they can make, considering how buttoned down they all have to be. But I was surprised by the number of fedoras, especially given it’s 2011. So it’s Maria’s iconic idiosyncrasy."

Alright, and what about Maria Bello. Does wearing the hat bother her? Nope! Not even close. Bello says:

"I was obsessed with the hat. Yes. I feel like it’s my magic hat. When I put it on, I was this character. It felt right to me. It felt like this is who Jane is. And I got it from my friend Claire. The first night I ever met her, she handed me the hat. She said, ‘This belongs to you.’ And I put it on, and for me, it’s Jane Timoney."

And there you have it.

Remember critics, there's a reason why you're writing about TV shows and not fashion.

Christina Applegate Is Coming To NBC! Up All Night Picked Up!

We didn't have too many concerns that this wouldn't get picked up, but we're still super excited!

Christina Applegate, Will Arnett, and Maya Rudolph will soon be joining the NBC family in a full-time capacity, as their new comedy pilot, now titled Up All Night, has been picked up for the 2011-12 season by NBC!

As we've reported, the series will focus on a Applegate as a working mother trying to cope with family pressures, as well as a stay-at-home husband (Will Arnett), and will be joined by the freshly picked-up musical comedy Smash, the British remake Prime Suspect, and Whitney Cummings' comedy pilot Whitney!

Excellent! Here's hoping the two comedies end up on the Thursday night line-up, right where they belong!
