Katy Perry Backtracks On Product Placement Comments!


Uh-oh! We guess she didn't take too kindly to some of the speculation made about her comments!

Shortly after Britney Spears released her music video for Hold It Against Me, Katy Perry recently took some - what many perceived to be - digs at artists who blatantly fill them with product placement via Twitter!

However, what she wrote was apparently not meant specifically for Brit Brit, or as she now backtracks explains, anyone in particular!

She wrote:

Dear tabloid media aka FILTH: pls note I expressed an overall feeling bout product placement, their roles in vids & the art of them being…complimenting or sticking out. Most, if not ALL popsters welcome deals w/products 2 offset costs of big budget vids in these recessional…music industry times. I'VE used them in MY vids before & am happy 2b able 2 make a better vid because of. Once AGAIN, stop pitting artists..against artist for ur sensational satisfaction & stick to what ur best @: lying, gossiping, exaggerating & overall lending a hand 2 the……deterioration of a generation.

Wowza! Some pretty serious words!

You know we love you, bb, but we don't think it's particularly fair for you to tweet about "some artists" and expect your readers to not wonder of whom you're speaking!

Just saying!

Katy And Marina Weigh In On Product Placement In Music Videos!


Many people were pretty shocked with the amount of product placement blatantly on display in Britney Spears' music video for her new single, Hold It Against Me, and it seems to have prompted a pretty inneresting discussion from some other performers on Twitter, including Marina and the Diamonds and Katy Perry!

Our beloved Marina was the first to pose the question:

What is consensus on product placement in videos? As a fan, do you prefer product placement if it means bigger budget vid?

To which Perry responded:

@MarinasDiamonds do it w/style & grace…Not so in ur face like some. U hv to get creative w/it. Some artists don't care tho, & u can tell.

Inneresting perspective! Not sure how much that applies to our Brit Brit, but for the most part, we do have to agree!

Product placement has certainly become a much more prominent fixture and music videos, and we think that it's important to ensure that if it is to be included, it doesn't sacrifice the integrity of the story being told!

And kudos to Marina for inviting a discussion about the issue! We imagine that there are a lot of different people with a variety of opinions about it!

The Kardashians Are SURRIOUSLY Ka$hing In! Made $65 MILLION In 2010!


The reality of this may chill us to the bone, but we doubt anyone will be shocked, given their insane amount of overexposure.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the entire Kardashian family pulled in a collective $65 MILLION in the year 2010, thanks to their endless reality shows, endorsements, products, appearance fees.

Yes. This means that they made more than Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, and Tom Cruise COMBINED.

Family matriarch Kris Jenner credits their success to being able to make the most money best out of daughter Kim's sex tape scandal.

She explains:

"I thought, 'Oh well, there goes the reality show.' But you can either be a problem maker or a problem solver. And I'm a problem solver. My job as her mom and manager is to take care of the problem — whatever it is. I had to cry and get upset in the privacy of my own room and then come out and help her, because she's my daughter. What good is it for me to berate her?…All I knew was that I had to make some lemonade out of these lemons fast. Real fast. My job was trying to take my kids' 15 minutes and turn it into 30. Not only do we not have filters running through our brains, we don't edit ourselves…The scene where [Kourtney's boyfriend] Scott [Disick] is shoving money down the waiter's throat, that was hard to watch. But I said: 'Leave it alone. Just show it. It'll be fine.' I've said that every single time. And it's served me well from a business point of view. My fantasy is to have Keeping Up With Kardashians, Season 26…Who knew it would be this profitable? I should have had more kids."

LOLz! Agree with her take on parenting or not, you can't deny that this woman knows how to keep the family franchise going!

And for that, you have to respect her!

Rihanna Slams Product Placement! Rihanna Signs Up For Doritos Endorsement!

Now that we know that the latest Rihanna leaked track - and video - is merely part of an endorsement deal with Doritos (we know, RANDOM, right?!), we were reminded of this little quotable the pop star gave back in April regarding her feelings on product placement!

She said:

"I hate doing product placement in my videos. I hate it. I think videos should just tell the story of the song. And then with product placement it all just becomes this big ad campaign. Sometimes we have to do it, for whatever political reason, but it's never my first choice. I don't like things to be so commercial."

So then, tell us, bb! For what political reason are you forced to sell Doritos?!

The world is dying to know! LOLs!

Lindsanity Cashes In On Herself

First, Antoine Dodson makes bank based on his mockery, and now Lindsanity is kind of doing the same thing!

Between interviews and product placement deals set up by her mother, Dina, it looks like Lindsay will be able to pay for rehab, and then some.

Here’s a source on Lindsay’s post-rehab money-making plans:

"Lindsay’s New York team has flown out to Los Angeles for the next few weeks to broker deals and manage her time when she isn’t in rehab outpatient classes. She has tons of bills to pay, thanks to her sentence, so it’s important she grab every post-rehab opportunity. In that sense, she is very focused and driven right now on using her recovery as a stepping stone.”

“Over the next couple of weeks, she can be paid for carrying something in a photo. Each company is offering between $2,000 and $10,000 for a photo of her with their products. Other companies are sending her masses of things for free hoping she’ll wear them.”

She’s got all types of deals and opportunities coming at her, the most lucrative one being a $1 million contract to co-host a radio show, with her mother, on NY radio station Party 105.

We give Ms. Lohan credit for her ability to profit on her own Lindsanity. We only hope that she’ll put some of her newfound money aside, just in case she has to return to rehab in the very near future one day.
