Dallas Star J.R. Ewing Larry Hagman Still Shooting Episodes Despite Cancer

Larry Hagman

Larry Hagman is returning to Dallas to reprise his role as the villainous J.R. Ewing next summer, but unfortunately is bringing an unwanted real-life villain with him. At 80-years-old, he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

In an interview on the set of the TNT reboot, Larry was in good spirits and shared his decision to continue shooting despite his illness, explaining:

"I feel good. I haven't started my therapy yet, but it's treatable and curable. I'm going to try to work through the whole thing and keep working during the therapy."

Since his diagnosis, the actor has even adopted a healthier, vegetarian diet, saying:

"I've lost about six pounds already in about eight days. I'm full all the time and I'm getting use to the taste of things without salt, without sugar."

Even though he's dealing with a major health scare, the actor shared he's just happy to be working at his age.

We wish Larry the best and can't wait to see what J.R. has been up to all these years when Dallas returns to television next summer!

Drinking Coffee May Lower Risk Of Prostate Cancer

Drinking Coffee May Lower Risk Of Prostate Cancer

Coffee is the new hero of the beverage world!

A new study found that men who drink six cups of coffee a day have a lower risk of getting fatal prostate cancer.

Around 48,000 men were studied over the course of 20 years, and researchers found that those who drank coffee were less likely to develop prostate cancer.

Said lead author, Kathryn Wilson:

"Coffee has a lot of different biological effects and several of them seem like they might be relevant for prostate cancer. It's an important source of antioxidants and also has positive effects on glucose metabolism and insulin levels, and it's thought that insulin plays a role in the progression of prostate cancer."

So to all of you coffee drinkers out there — cheers!

Worried About Prostate Cancer Death? Exercise Vigorously!

exercise to prevent prostate cancer death

According to new research, prostate cancer patients who exercise are less likely to die.

Looks like even three hours a week of vigorous biking, tennis, jogging, or swimming can improve patients' odds of survival.

Here's what researcher Stacey Kenfield had to say about it:

"This is the first study in men with prostate cancer to evaluate physical activity after diagnosis in relation to prostate cancer-specific mortality and overall mortality. We observed benefits at very attainable levels of activity and our results suggest that men with prostate cancer should do some physical activity for their overall health, even if it is a small amount, such as 15 minutes of activity per day of walking, jogging or biking. Vigorous activity may be especially beneficial for prostate cancer, as well as overall health, at levels of three or more hours per week."

Def good information to keep in mind, especially since prostate cancer is SO common in men.

Be sure to keep exercising, bbs!
