We had no idea Betty White was such a nature enthusiast!

Apparently when she was very young, her parents would always take her on trips to the mountains and she just loved being out in nature.

She is very thankful for The Wilderness Society and everything they do to protect nature and get Americans off their couches and out into the wild.

If you're thinking about giving someone a pet as a gift, DON'T DO IT!

Unless of course they want one and are emotionally and finically ready for the 10-20 year commitment of owning a pet.

Or you're getting it for your kids and you plan on taking care of it because you are emotionally and financially ready.

If you are 100% ready for a pet, make sure you adopt a shelter dog!

What could be a better gift than taking a pet out of a shelter (and off of death row) and bringing them into your warm home to lay down and take a well deserved, peaceful nap underneath the christmas tree.

The holidays are a great time to give and receive gifts to and from our loved ones.

Some people see it as an opportunity to outdo themselves every year.

But just because someone will flip out and love getting a puppy as a gift, no one thinks about what happens when that puppy becomes a dog.

And then starts costing money: food, vet bills, carpet steaming services (you know what we're talking about.)

So Christopher Ameruoso made the above PSA for Last Chance For Animals.

You wouldn't surprise a friend by adopting a child for them, would you? Because gifting a dog is basically the legal equivalent except with an even cuter adoptee.

Stick to bad sweaters and last minute sharper image gadgets this holiday season.

As the Humane Society International’s first Global Ambassador, Ke$ha has found a new cause to champion.

While on an island in the South Pacific she and a friend saw two abused street dogs "who literally had been super glued together."

They were able to separate the dogs but there are still many more homeless and abused dogs who need help.

5 and a half MILLION turkeys will be slaughtered this year just for our Thanksgiving feasts.

There are other ways.

Like going vegan!

Christopher Ameruoso has a new PSA for Last Chance for Animals.

It's called Adopt, Don't Shop.

That means that you should be rescuing your pets from the pound, not buying them from stores supplied by puppy mills.

If people stop buying pets from stores, the demand from puppy mills will disappear and they will close down AND they will simultaneously be helping to curb the homeless pet epidemic.
