While it was rumored yesterday that a public memorial was being planned for Whitney Houston at Newark's Prudential Center, close to the Hope Baptist Church where Whitney first started her singing career, her family has decided against the service and has opted just to have an invitation-only service at the church on Saturday.

Carolyn Whigham, owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark who is handling all the arrangements for the funeral, confirmed the news to the press today, saying:
