We know what you're thinking, but no. That's not the sound of a giant with a cold snoring.
Guinness says the gray-and-white tabby earned her place with record-setting 67.7 decibels. In a video on the cat's website, the 12-year-old, ordinary-size feline purrs with a sound akin to the cooing of an angry dove.
Smokey first rose to prominence in February, when her owner, ran a local competition for the most powerful purr. A community college recorded the purr and submitted it to Guinness.
Guinness says the loudest animal sounds are the low-frequency pulses made by blue whales and fin whales when they communicate with each other – sounds that reach 188 decibels.
By comparison, a lawnmower is 90 decibels.

Smokey's purr sounds more like a lawnmower!
Most cats purr at around 25 decibels but Smokey's averages 80 decibels.
However, when measured close-up her purrs reach 92 decibels, equivalent to the noise of a lawnmower, hair dryer or, it is claimed, a Boeing 737 coming in to land.
Its owners, Ruth and Mark Adams, say Smokey's deafening purrs make it impossible for them to hear the television or radio when she is in the room and they struggle to have telephone conversations.
"She has always been very vocal and purrs at some level nearly all the time," said Ruth, from Pitsford, in Northampton. She even manages to purr while she eats. The only time she is quiet is when she is asleep. When I'm on the phone friends often ask what the loud noise is and they can't believe it is coming from a cat."

Katy Perry has just come out with her new fragrance called Purr.
She is already known to be a super cool cat lady! Her and her husband have three cats!!
Katy talked about Purr, she explained:
"I wanted to be able to add to the mystique of a woman. The whole thing is derivative from the characteristics of a cat. Cats are very independent, very sexy, very like, 'You have to earn my affection, and I'll do things on my own time.' And I think strong women relate to that."
Katy admits that her feline friend Kitty Purry was a driving force behind the idea for this perfume. She said that she never considered herself to be a cat person until she got Kitty.
Once Kitty came into her life, she couldn't believe how similar they were!
