Seriously, the people in charge of wooing the olympic committee in Pyeongchang are not messing around!
Pyeongchang's been turned down twice already, and are trying their hardest to avoid the third time — by building more venues, condos and hotels, and a huge ski jump tower. Here's why it's so important to Pyeongchang:
"There's a belief here that Winter Olympics is something that goes only to developed countries, so we see it almost as a status symbol."
"We've got to win," says Ha-yeon Kim, a visual merchandiser in Seoul. "[Pyeongchang] has spent so much money and effort. It'd be somewhat embarassing if they lost again."
Pyeongchang is up against some behemoths though, such as the other two frontrunners: Munich and Annecy, France. So it's no wonder why Pyeongchang's nervous. According to some, though, Pyeongchang is the frontrunner by a hair, with Munich gaining ground behind them.
But, to us, we feel it's time to broaden this event world-wide! Give it to those who truly need and want it, to those it would do more positive things for!
It's time for Pyeongchang to get the Winter Wlympics!
