Even though it was clearly a joke… this was not a smart thing to do.
Hillary Clinton and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio were taking part in a black tie event in front of journalists and politicos on Saturday in the city, when they made a joke that just should never have been written.

The mayor — who officially endorsed Clinton and then teased her about how long it took — stepped up to the mic in front of Hamilton cast member Leslie Odom Jr., and decided that would be the perfect time to make a joke about… 'colored people'?!
Because it took de Blasio so long to endorse Clinton, he apparently thought it'd be a good day to make a joke about endorsing her on "C.P. time."
Of course, that is most commonly short for "colored people's time," a stereotype that has perpetuated about African-Americans being lazy and late to appointments.
