tom morello takes his son rhoads to mr bones pumpkin patch

For someone who spent years playing guitar in Rage Against The Machine, Tom Morello is kind of a total softie!!

The heavy metal guitar god took a break from his rocker ways and turned to his fatherly duties as he took his son Rhoads to the Mr. Bones pumpkin patch in West Hollywood!

But the fun didn't stop with pumpkins!

Tom certainly had his hands full as he dragged a wagon full of supplies with one hand and grasped a bunch of balloons with the other!

And we also couldn't help but notice Rhoads got his face painted like a cheetah!!

Looks like these guys a re gonna have a ragin' Halloween! Rock on, pops!!

Ch-ch-check out more pics from their day at the pumpkin patch (below)!

The Guitarist From Paul Ryan's Favorite Band BASHES Him

Paul Ryan gets bashed by his favorite band

The Republican presidential campaign is facing some harsh rejection from all of the musicians they listen to.

Silversun Pickups recently sent Mitt Romney a cease and desist letter because he's been using the song Panic Switch at appearances without their permission. Now, the guitarist from Paul Ryan's favorite band is saying that the Vice Presidential candidate is one of his least favorite people!

In an op-ed for Rolling Stone, Tom Morrello of Rage Against The Machine has labeled Ryan as "the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades."

The guitarist acknowledges that Ryan has stated he prefers Rage's sound to their songs' lyrics, but doesn't let him off the hook as he continues:

Wow!

You cannot deny that he is committed to this cause!

Former Rage Against the Machine guitarist and Nightwachman Tom Morello was originally expected to perform at the Swan Dive in Austin for SXSW last night, but managed to turn his set into a full-blown Occupy gathering, which he organized in conjunction with Occupy Austin - and even after the police shut him down, he continued on!

Morello started his set for SXSW badge holders, but then informed them that a "people's stage" had been erected to broadcast the show on the street for the protestors and general public!

At last call, he then announced:

Jimi Hendrix Named Rolling Stone's Greatest Guitarist Of ALL TIME!!!

jimi hendrix greatest guitarist of all time

Very well deserved!

Rolling Stone has released a new list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, and the legendary Jimi Hendrix landed the #1 spot on the list!

Here's what Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello had to say about it:

"His playing was effortless. There's not one minute of his recorded career that feels like he's working hard at it — it feels like it's all flowing through him."

We totally agree, and we're also feeling pret-ty good about the runners up, which include Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, and Jeff Beck!

Who do U think is the greatest guitarist of all time???

Rage Against The Machine's Zack De La Rocha Pens A Poem For Occupy Wall Street

rage against the machine zack de la roacha occupy wall street

Zack de la Rocha is a man who clearly has some questions for the government. His band is even named after it! C'mon. Rage Against The Machine? How much more obvious can you get?

But his activism isn't just for show. After he heard the news of police evicting Occupy Wall Street on Mayor Bloomberg's command, he began penning a poem for the protestors.

Read it in full (or say it out loud, it's prettier that way):

Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello Calls Madison, WI "The Next Cairo"

In case you haven't heard what's going on in Madison, Wisconsin, tens of thousands of protesters have been marching on the state capital, battling a state bill that would cut union employees' pensions and health care benefits.

Without getting the national coverage it deserves, protestors have turned to other outlets, including reaching out to Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, who's been a huge supporter of union rights.

When fans took to his Facebook page, writing such things as, "Hey Tom, could you please come to Madison? As I'm sure you're aware, Scott Walker is trying essentially to de-unionize," Tom decided to headline a concert in support of the protests scheduled for Monday.

Tom said:

"I really think that the future of the rights of working people in this country is not going to be decided in the courts. It's not going to be decided in Congress or radio talk shows. The future of rights of working people in this country will be the fight on the streets of Madison, Wisconsin. Madison is the next Cairo."

Wow. Those are some powerful words. We hope that the people of Madison are victorious in their battle of keeping their rights to pensions and benefits!

Power to the people!

Another Lauryn Hill Show PANNED By Critics!

lauryn-hill-toronto-show-panned-by-critics

It's so difficult to hear about so many disappointed fans, especially after they've been looking forward to this comeback for SO long!

Lauryn Hill gave another performance this past Saturday in Toronto - as part of her recent North American Tour - and unfortunately, it sounds as though its audience was once again baffled by her displays of what's being described as "arrogance" and "self-indulgence!"

While one critic revealed that she didn't keep her audience waiting nearly as late as she did as some recent shows - she began her performance only an hour late - and that she appeared "healthy, energetic, clear-eyed" as well as "flashing that brilliant smile, laughing and saying 'How you been?' and 'Long time no see,'" the singer had re-worked so many of her classics that they were unrecognizable, and ultimately ostracized her fans!

They explain:

Much loved tunes like “Lost Ones,” “Ex-Factor” and “When It Hurts So Bad” were so unrecognizable it didn’t feel like I’d listened to that record at least once a week for the last 13 years.

Between the screaming guitars and new basslines, the frenetic pace of the songs and your reconstructed phrasing, the tunes melded indistinctly into one another. As you said, you wrote these songs a when you were much younger. Perhaps the meanings have changed for you, but don’t you think you could’ve let us know you’d also adopted an alternative rock outlook?

It wouldn’t have been so bad if the DJ that preceded you onstage had not amped the attendees with reggae and hip-hop instead of, say, more suitable Coldplay and Rage Against the Machine.

I get that artists should be allowed to evolve.

However, they usually do that by making new music, hopefully garnering new listeners if the old ones don’t embrace it.

We’re too polite to boo you, like they did in Atlanta, but didn’t you notice after awhile that no one was grooving, how the cheers and applause had dwindled and that only a few camera phones were lit up? Could you see the perplexed looks?

Even ever-evolving Prince has never disrespected his fans with a nostalgia tour devoid of nostalgia.

I hope this tour is a way to prove to yourself or your record label that you can still draw a crowd; that it’s the prelude to an album of brand new songs — sonically constructed however you wish — that document those life-altering sacrifices.

Because the alternative, that this was a meaningless exercise or simple money grab, would be even more disappointing, a trick that fewer of us will fall for next time.

Wow.

It sounds as though they weren't just disappointed by her new sound, but they were OFFENDED, and almost felt cheated by it - which we can personally understand!

Keep in mind that although this tour is about you, bb, it's also about your FANS, who have patiently waited for your return for a long time!

We're thrilled that your sound has evolved, but by showcasing that evolution in classic songs for an audience of expectant fans is almost kind of an "Eff You" to them!

It may not be how you meant it, but that's how it comes off!

We still have faith in you, bb! But you might want to re-think your next show!

Thoughts??
