WHERE'S JOHNNY DEPP!!! LOL!

Johnny's funny family flick Rango just walked away with the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

You know, it wouldn't have hurt him just to show up! His movie was nominated … and maybe if he had gone, they would've let him accept the award on the directors behalf!

Wishful thinking? Alright, fair enough! Congrats!!!

Sucker Punch Gets Punched Out At The Box Office

diary-of-wimpy-kid-comes-in-first-place-at-box-office.jpg

It was a family affair this weekend.

Zack Snyder's much-hyped, but critically panned film, Sucker Punch, had a weak opening weekend, bringing in a total of $20 million.

Warner Bros. had "spent a fortune pumping it up" since the film was rumored to cost around $100 million to make.

Yikes!

Meanwhile, The Wimpy Kid franchise is proving to be a hit.

The family-friendly sequel, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, took the number one spot at the box office, with $24 million.

The film only cost $21 million to make, which is pretty impressive. In fact, with the film's success, a script for a third Wimpy Kid is already in the works.

Bradley Cooper's Limitless came in third place with $15 million while Matthew McConaughey's The Lincoln Lawyer took the fourth place spot with $10.5 million.

Johnny Depp's animated feature, Rango, was still going strong, staying in the top five with $10 million. The film has made a cumulative $106.5 million so far. Wowsa!

So, what did U see this weekend??

Battle: Los Angeles Wins The Box Office Battle

battle-los-angeles-number-one-movie.jpg

Moviegoers were desperate for some sci-fi action this weekend.

Battle: Los Angeles topped the box office with $36 million, which is a strong opening for the Warner Bros. film.

Last week's #1 movie Rango moved down to the number two spot and made an additional $23.1 million, earning a total of $68.7 million for two weekends.

Amanda Seyfried's Red Riding Hood didn't do well, coming in number three with $14.1 million - well behind the film's expectations.

Guess Twi-Hards didn't come out to support Twilight director Catherine Hardwick.

Whomp whomp!

The Adjustment Bureau moved down to fourth place with $11.5 million, making the cumulative total to $38.5 million.

The biggest disappointment of the weekend was Disney's Mars Need Moms, which rounded out the top five. The movie only grossed $6.8 million in its opening weekend, however it cost $150 million to produce.

Ouch! That's a huge loss!

We haven't seen a Disney animated film do THIS bad. Yikes.

So…what did U see this weekend??

Anti-Smoking Advocates Upset About Rango’s PG Rating

Everyone loves Rango! Well, everyone but a group of anti-smoking parents who complain that there’s excessive smoking in the movie that could rub off on kids.

A Sacramento-based anti-smoking organization counted 60 instances of characters smoking in the new animated film, and they expect that kids will start to smoke after seeing it.

"A lot of kids are going to start smoking because of this movie," said Stanton Glantz, director of the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education at the University of California-San Francisco.

In defense of the movie, Virginia Lam, a spokeswoman for Paramount (which made Rango) said the title character never smokes. "The images of smoking in the film … are portrayed by supporting characters and are not intended to be celebrated or emulated," she said.

We think the anti-smoking group may have a valid point — maybe Rango should be rated PG-13.
