Redmond O'Neal, the only son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal, is moving closer and closer to avoiding a serious prison sentence.

Back in August, he pleaded no contest to drug and weapons charges and was sentenced to a year at a live-in treatment facility.

He ended up breaking his probation by using drugs while there.

Since then, he's been moving closer and closer to recovery.

As we previously reported, the son of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett was arrested in Santa Monica on August 2 for failing to stop at a red light.

Redmond O'Neal was subsequently charged with felony possession of heroin and being in possession of a firearm.

Redmond O'Neal was pulled over for a traffic violation Tuesday when police allegedly found marijuana and heroin in his car.

The cops immediately arrested him, and searched his house where they found a loaded handgun.

Farrah Fawcett's father James Fawcett passed away in his home in Houston, Texas last Monday at the age of 92.

Grandson Redmond O'Neal attended the service in Texas this past Friday, but Ryan O'Neal chose not to attend likely because they had a falling out after Farrah's death last year.

James is survived by his second wife, Rosenda Sofia Fawcett.

Lindsay Lohan Redmond O'Neal has finally completed his rehab program.

The son of the late actress Farrah Fawcett was in a Los Angeles courtroom yesterday to mark the end of his treatment program. After five months, Redmond looked ready to start over again and even hugged the Superior Court Judge upon receiving the official word that he was a free man.

It hasn't been an easy time for Redmond over the past year, but we think he's finally gone the distance.(Or at least we really hope so!)

After leaving the courthouse, Redmond released a statement through his lawyer, saying:

"My plan is to move forward with my life, clean and sober. I am going to do so privately and with as much quiet dignity as I can."

Good for you, boy! We think your mom is very proud of you, wherever she is now.

But be proud of yourself too!
