Probably not!

ReelzChannel and Muse Entertainment are working on a sequel to The Kennedys, but pardon us if we aren't totes thrilled!!

You know we adore everything involving America's greatest family!

Heck, if they plastered President Kennedy and Jackie O's portraits on toilet paper, we'd start wiping with pine cones!

Neverthless, we aren't sure a return to Camelot is necessary!

The first miniseries was a friggin' flop!

Ask not what a plagued miniseries can do for you - but buy it with the hope that it will bring you exactly what you hope it will!

Such is the story for the Reelz Channel who set a record last night with their first two hours of The Kennedys. The world premiere of the miniseries averaged 1.9 million viewers — a record for the basic cable channel that reaches just 60 million homes. Reelz CEO Stan E. Hubbard released a statement this morning on the success of the series, saying:

“Viewers across America showed their ongoing fascination with the Kennedy family and, specifically, their desire to see such a star-studded cast in the highly-anticipated ‘The Kennedys’. In acquiring The Kennedy’ our aim was to give viewers an opportunity to watch an incredible movie event with massive star power and to also put a spotlight on our network like never before.”

Mission accomplished. Let's hope the momentum keeps up for the rest of the week!

We know what the critics thought about it, but how about U? Did U tune in to see Katie Holmes fill out a pillbox hat?

ReelzChannel Raking In Viewers After Acquiring The Kennedys

This was a really good move for them, at least from this perspective.

Since ReelzChannel announced that they would be the brave souls to air the highly-controversial mini-series, The Kennedys, things have been going really well for them. Their viewership has almost doubled from earlier this year, averaging about 5.5 million viewers a week, and according to the suits, that number is bound to go up again once the mini-series actually makes it to air.

ReelzChannel CEO Stan Hubbard explained that he and his team are shooting for an audience of around 12 million people when the eight part series hits their airwaves and hopefully, that number will stick after the show is over. Stan added:

"We knew what we were getting into when we bought this. We just hope taking a risk will pay off."

So far, so good…but beware. We haven't heard from Maria Shriver in awhile. She might just be biding her time, waiting for her moment to strike and shut this thing down!

We sincerely hope she doesn't though. We have to know what the hell goes on in this movie that's got everyone in such a damn uproar!!!

ReelzChannel Re-Releases Trailer For The Kennedys!

Filed under: TV NewsFilm FlickersKatie Holmes

It will finally see the light of day!

Now that ReelzChannel has officially picked up the eight-part miniseries The Kennedys - after the famous family essentially blacklisted it - the network has released their OWN version of the trailer…or pretty much the one we've already seen, but now with their logo and an airdate included in the footage!

Ch-ch-check it out (above)!

Meanwhile, in spite of the controversy, the film's executive producer, Michael Prupas, is adamant that the series in historically accurate, and explains:

"It's the truth. The goal of the script from the very beginning was to tell the family story of the Kennedys. There's much written evidence of what went on in that family. They truly were a great family that has a Shakespearian story arc that resulted in many tragedies and many great successes. It is a positive reflection – but we have shown the flaws. It is blatantly obvious from many public sources that the family had certain flaws and certain problems. We weren't inventing the wheel."

And Reelz's CEO, Stan E. Hubbard, agrees:

"We don’t enjoy controversy or want to pick a fight, but the history is the history. When you watch this, there are incredible successes and unbelievable tragedies. The family stays together and they're loyal to each other and to the country throughout the highest highs and the lowest lows. The cast put their heart and soul into this, and with great care to accuracy of circumstances and visuals. We're so thrilled and proud of being able to step up and help this story be told that they so carefully created."

Well, we suppose only time will tell, but yeah…the trailer doesn't really help their argument!

Thoughts??
