Chuck E. Cheese Is Getting Replaced?!?!

Filed under: Business BlitzStuff 4 Kidz

Chuck E. Cheese has been fired.

The owners of the children's pizza restaurants slash arcade center have deemed the memorable character as old news. The company will launch a new, more hip version of Chuck E. Cheese as an electric guitar wielding rock star.

The mascot's voice will be different, as well.

Our main man, er, mouse has come a long way in the 35 years he's been around. Back in the day he used to even have a cigar prop which we're glad we don't remember.

We understand why a company would want to remodel their mascot when sales haven't been strong in the 500 stores around the country that offer games, prizes and a musical variety musical show.

Still, we can't help but feel a part our childhood has been replaced, as well.

Which breaks our hearts.

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Is Frozen! The Show Opens Next Tuesday!

spider man musical is frozen

Last we heard about Broadway news, we were pleased to report that the 2010-11 Broadway season broke two records, reaching a box office high of 1.08 billion and an attendance of 12.53 million!

Hopefully the revamped Spider-Man musical can help keep those numbers up.

That's right, Spidey lovers! Cursed Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has been officially "frozen," meaning there will be NO MORE CHANGES, and opening night for the looooooooong delayed show is June 14.

Let's hope the critics like the new version! As we said before, we're skeptical, buuuut good reviews could definitely get people into seats, which could help keep those attendance/box office numbers strong, so hopefully it all works out!

Good luck, Spider-Man team!

Do U think the new version of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark will be a success?

Bono Speaks Up On Why First Version Of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Failed

bono on why first version of spider man failed

Enlighten us, Bono!

During a recent interview, U2's Bono opened up about the failure of the first version of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, and he had some inneresting points to make about it:

"What was great about Turn Off the Dark 1.0 was unusual and rare: magic, a pop-up Pop-Art opera with a bit of rock ’n’ roll circus thrown in. What was not right about it was a catalog of commonplace problems — story knots, bad sound and finally a failure to cohere, meaning that the whole was not greater than the sum of the parts, as wonderful as some of those parts were."

"In Turn Off the Dark 2.0, the myth of Arachne does not overpower the reason people are there…to discover what makes Peter Parker a superhero, which in the end turns out not to be his spider senses, but his personal integrity and especially his humility — something I hope all of us in this process have learned from."

Def sounds like they may have gotten it right this time! Assuming nobody else gets hurt, they've got our support!

Good luck, revamped Spider-Man team!
