Wall Street Journal Reviewer Is BANNED On Broadway After Admitting She Only Stays For Half Of The Shows!
This is pretty darn unprofessional, and frankly kind of despicable.
In a recent Wall Street Journal column titled Confessions of a Broadway Bolter, theatre reviewer Joanne Kaufman admitted that she typically only stays for half of a show… and then leaves! But she still reviews them anyway!!! She explains:
"I'm embarrassed by how unembarrassed I am to admit that the very next night, I took early leave of The Country House, and the following night of It's Only a Play."
And those are only a couple of plays that she names.
Well, the Broadway community is obviously — and rightly — outraged by this admission. So much so that theatrical press agent and president of O&M Co. Rick Miramontez wrote a scathing letter to the WSJ, which they predictably did not print.
But it didn't matter because people got ahold of it anyway.
