Smurfs Movie Gets NEW Release Date - July 29!

smurfs movie gets new release date

Last we heard from our little blue friends, a new super-adorable trailer had been released for The Smurfs!

If THAT wasn't exciting for all the Smurfanatics out there, we've now learned that the release date for the movie has been pushed up a week from Aug. 5 to July 29.

Sony Pictures Animation made the decision to change the release date in an effort to avoid direct competition with Fox's Rise of the Apes, the James Franco-starring prequel which opens on Aug. 5.

We hope Sony's move works out for The Smurfs! It looks like a totally cute movie, and as we said before, Katy Perry is ADORBS as Smurfette!

Will U check out The Smurfs when it comes out on July 29th?

Rise Of The Apes Coming Earlier Than Planned!

Ooh! Any excuse to have some seksi James Franco earlier than expected is fine by us!

The upcoming Planet of the Apes prequel/reboot, Rise of the Apes, has been given a few different release dates - originally scheduled for June 24th, before being pushed back to Thanksgiving weekend - but now, 20th Century Fox has once again bumped it up to an August 5th release, marking it as their "last big event movie of the summer!"

The story will allegedly focus on Franco's character in present-day San Francisco, as a scientist attempting to cure Alzheimer's who inadvertantly develops the intelligence in apes, that ultimately leads to the events of the other films!

Excellent! Sounds like it has a lot of promise!

We're definitely interested in checking it out!

What do U think?? Are U excited that Rise of the Apes is coming sooner than originally expected??

First Image Of James Franco In Apes!

France Uses Science On Apes

Check out the first image of our resident fave James Franco in the upcoming prequel Rise Of The Apes!

It was supposed to be hitting screens this summer, but got pushed back to winter so they could work more on the special effects.

Take all the time you need, as long as it's awesome!!

Here's a brief synopsis:

"The new Apes flick centers on a young scientist (James Franco) whose attempts to cure Alzheimer’s leads to the creation of a super-intelligent ape (played by Andy Serkis using motion-capture)."

Sounds great, and it's FAB that Andy Serkis will be playing the ape, because come on, we know how awesome he was as Gollum in Lord of the Rings!!

James, give us a call! We'd love to discuss some monkey business with you!

Will U see Rise Of The Apes??

Tom Felton To Star In Rise Of The Apes!

tom-felton-to-appear-in-planet-of-the-apes-prequel-rise-of-the-apes

Onto the next fanchise, we see!

Tom Felton, fresh off of his stint as Draco Malfoy in all of the Harry Potter films, has signed on to appear in the new Planet of the Apes prequel, Rise of the Apes - and he'll playing a human!

He explains:

"It's called Rise of The Apes and it is a fantastic story and explanation of how the apes from Planet of the Apes came to power. It's definitely one of the best scripts I've ever read. The first question my friends asked was, 'Are you playing a human?' and when I said yes they were quite disappointed - because they wanted to see me as a monkey. We've got Andy Serkis, from Lord of The Rings, playing the lead ape all with motion capture. It's really pushing the boundaries of Avatar-style CGI, so it's gonna really set a new precedent I think. In the film my character's father owns a primate facility. Of course I'm not the kindest man to my residents and I torture them with a whole host of weapons."

Wow! All of the apes are going to be done in motion capture?!

That's a huge revelation!

This is going to change the entire look of the movie! Let's hope that they don't mess this up, though!

If this CGI isn't done right, this whole thing could be an absolute disaster!

What do U think?? Are U excited for Rise of the Apes??

Harry Potter Cast Moves On

picture-1.jpg

It's official! Daniel Radcliffe has chosen his first film role now that he has completed the Harry Potter series.

After rumors have been swirling that he has expressed interest in starring in the upcoming supernatural thriller Woman in Black, publicist Romley Davies has confirmed that Daniel will be starring in the film.

The thriller is said to be about a young attorney named Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe's role), who travels to the home of a deceased woman to sort out her papers. While in the home, he uncovers many secrets and even has an encounter with a mysterious woman in black.

Interestingly, the movie's original adaptation in 1989 starred Adrian Rawlins, who plays Harry Potter's father James in the films.

And in other HP news, Tom Felton (Harry Potter’s Draco Malfoy) has joined Caesar: Rise of the Apes as Brian Cox’s son, co-owner of ape facility.

He will star alongside James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, and John Lithgow.

The film is "set in present-day San Francisco" and "deals with the aftermath of man’s experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy."

Rise of the Apes is set to be released next summer!

Can't wait!
