Disney & Steven Spielberg Suffered A Rare Box Office Bomb With The BFG — But THESE Films Were The Biggest Flops Of All Time!

no title

Talk about a BIG bomb!

Disney has had hit after hit in 2016, from Zootopia to Captain America: Civil War. Sadly for Steven Spielberg, The BFG ends that hot streak, as the Amblin Entertainment co-production flopped HARD during its debut over the holiday weekend!

The flick, adapted from Roald Dahl's classic children's book, had a budget of around $140 million but ended up only taking in $18.6 million over the three-day Fourth of July weekend and an atrocious $22.3 million total over the four-day holiday period!

While it's only been a few days, there's no doubt that Spielberg's movie is DEFINITELY a huge bomb — but the good news is, it's not NEARLY as bad as some of the biggest flops EVER…

A couple of which did belong to the House of Mouse…

Not every giant is a nasty, human-eating monster.

Steven Spielberg's take on the Roald Dahl tale promises tons of wonder, danger, and friendship — and there looks to be no shortage of incredibly stunning visuals!

In the latest trailer, 10-year-old Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) is lying awake in her London bedroom when a ginormous hand scoops her up and takes the girl out the window. The hand belongs to the BFG (Mark Rylance) — a 24-foot giant who takes Sophie away to Giant Country!

The new friends bond over their loneliness, until they are threatened by some not-so-friendly giants named Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) — who are twice as big and like to snack on people!

This is so sad.

Melissa Mathison, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter for Steven Spielberg's classic E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, passed away last night at the UCLA Medical Center at the age of 65.

Melissa's brother, Dirk Mathison, confirmed that the cause of her death was neuroendocrine cancer.

Even though Miz Mathison's life was cut short, she had quite a few accomplishments to her name.

Russell Brand Embraces Willy Wonka And The Beatles For Olympics Closing Ceremony

Filed under: TV NewsMusic MinuteRussell Brand

Russell Brand is the Walrus!

The British comedian represented his country during the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony on Sunday night by channeling Willy Wonka and The Beatles.

He took us into a realm of Pure Imagination by singing (above) a few lines from the 1971 musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantasy novel before segueing into a so-so cover of I Am The Walrus.

Not bad, but we would have loved to see his alter ego, Aldous Snow, cover the song with a bit more of a rock star edge.

Or maybe he could have just performed Bangers, Beans & Mash. Ha!
