American Psycho The Musical Gets A Kickstarter Campaign!

Bret Easton Ellis' classic novel of 80s excess and murder American Psycho has only gained in popularity over the years.

But who would have thought it would ever be a Broadway musical??

We doubt we'll get a Christian Bale shower scene, but with Duncan Sheik doing the songs and Glee alum Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa writing the book, this could be a pretty amazing show!

Ch-ch-check out the video (above) to see the Kickstarter pitch that sells itself like a bone white business card!

We're not exactly sure how they intend to make naked chainsaw murders work onstage, but with just $150,000, this macabre dream can be a reality!

Big Love Writer Taking On New Version Of Carrie!

big love writer to take on new version of carrie

Maybe he can also write the new version of the Broadway musical. Ha!

Big Love writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa seems to be seriously in demand these days! First, he was brought on to re-write the script for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, and now he'll be writing the screenplay for the new Carrie film.

Looks like the new version of Stephen King's classic story won't be so much a remake of Brian De Palma's 1976 film, but will rather be a "re-adaptation" of the novel.

We're certainly more excited about this than the musical reboot. We hope this project is treated with care though like The Rage: Carrie 2.

Are U excited for a new Carrie film? Or do U think they should leave it alone?

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Producers Diss Julie Taymor, Bring On Co-Director

producers to hire co director for spider man musical

Sorry, Miss Taymor. You win some, you lose some.

Last we heard about Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, producers were hiring writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to fix the show's book.

Guess the producers feel that re-writing the book isn't going to cut it, because they're also hiring a co-director for the show.

Looks like producers will most likely be bringing on The Boy From Oz's Phil McKinley to help out director Julie Taymor with Spider-Man.

What will they change about the show next? Are they going to change the Superhero from Spider-Man to The Hulk???

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Getting Rewritten!

spider man play being rewritten

Really, Spider-Man team? At this stage of the game?

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark maybe not being doing so well with critics, but ticket sales for preview shows are up.

Despite solid ticket sales, the producers have hired Big Love/Spider-Man comic writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to rewrite Julie Taymor and Glen Berger's book!

Does this mean that the official opening night will be pushed back yet again?

We can appreciate what they're doing here, but it's enough! This play is more cursed than The Scottish Play Macbeth.

Who knows, though! Maybe the rewrites will be amazing and the critics will change their minds. Maybe.

Thoughts???

New Details On American Psycho: The Musical

american psycho musical on its way

Back in February, we learned that a Broadway musical adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel American Psycho was in the works, with music and lyrics by Spring Awakening's Duncan Sheik, and a script by Big Love's Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

Now that progress is underway on the musical, Sheik and Aguirre-Sacasa have decided to let the world in on new details about the project.

Here's Duncan Sheik on American Psycho's music:

"Think about Malcolm McDowell singing songs during A Clockwork Orange. He sang Singing in the Rain."

And here's Sheik on the play's target audience:

"Obviously, it's not for the people who want to see Elf."

LOLs. Here's what playwright Aguirre-Sacasa had to say about the project:

"There are murders, and they are on stage in full view of the audience. An ax and a chef's knife will be used. I think there's going to be a lot of blood."

And for those of you Ellis fans out there who loved the book, here are some scenes from the novel that the playwright hopes to include:

- Bateman lures business associate Paul Owen back to his Manhattan apartment. Bateman puts on a raincoat so his designer suit doesn't get bloody and hacks up Owen with an ax.

- He bumps into "Tom Cruise" in the elevator of the Upper West Side building where they both live. Bateman refers to Cruise's film Cocktail as Bartender. Cruise corrects him and points out that his nose is bleeding.

- Bateman and his yuppie friends compare business cards at a swanky Upper East Side restaurant. Noting his peers' classier cards, Bateman becomes so jealous he finds it hard to breathe.

We're liking what we're hearing, but we'd STILL like to see Jared Leto come back and sing while his character from the film version gets axed to death!

Are U excited for American Psycho: The Musical?
