Mandy Moore Is Done With Romantic Comedies!

Understandable, especially given how the last few that she's done have bombed!

Mandy Moore recently revealed that she's no longer interested in starring in light-hearted, romantic comedies, because she doesn't find them fulfilling creatively!

She explains:

"I've had fun doing romantic comedies but I just can't anymore. There's nothing fulfilling creatively, there's nowhere to grow, nothing to learn from it or for yourself. I'd rather just be home with my family or write music until that special project comes my way. It was fun to dip my toe in the water (with musicals in Tangled), but I'd like to do the real thing on the big screen. That'd be so much fun."

And we DEFINITELY agree that we'd like to see you in features with a little more substance, bb, especially given how FANTASTIC you are in edgier roles - like in Saved and American Dreamz!

Of course - never say never! You could find a romantic comedy that really works, it's just a matter of quality!

Either way, best of luck!

Natalie Portman Producing To Create Better Roles For Women

Wowsa! That's amazing!

Natalie Portman is finally tackling a genre she has always avoided - the romantic comedy! In her new film, No Strings Attached, she had found a rom-com that doesn't offend her.

She said:

“I’ve always wanted to do one. But the girls are always in fashion, and it’s always about their clothes. They always want to get married at the end. There’s some kind of makeover scene. That stuff offends me.

[Screenwriter] Liz Meriwether writes women so specifically and smartly. My character is a woman who’s working, who’s trying to create her own construct for relationships, who’s funny herself — and isn’t just the girlfriend of a funny guy."

And Natalie isn't going to stoop!

The actress is developing female friendly comedies through her production company, Handsomecharlie Films. She's producing, Best Buds, a stoner roadtrip comedy, and BYO, which has been described as a female Superbad.

Portman’s producing partner Annette Savitch said:

“Natalie wants to build something that’s different from your usual production company. We want to do movies that are female driven, from a fresher perspective. So if it’s a comedy, it’s not just about women out to find husbands. I think that’s really lacking today.”

Amen! You go, girl.

NPH Steps Behind The Camera

Neil Patrick Harris directing first film Aaron and Sarah indie romantic comedy

Smart move! His acting career is flourishing, but he's setting up his Plan B for when we finally learn who the effing mother is on his show!

Neil Patrick Harris, coming off of his stage-directing debut with Rent at the Hollywood Bowl, is now getting behind the lens to direct his first movie. The mega star will be directing an indie romantic comedy called, Aaron and Sarah.

So far, he already has his Aaron and Sarah - Josh Hutcherson and Emma Roberts - and a solid script. The story tells the tale of two young friends, who fall for each other in freshman year of high school and endure "the four years, four proms and one funeral before graduation."

Dark ending, yeesh!

We're excited to see what NPH can bring to the table! He's so uber talented, we imagine it will be a breeze for him!

Think U might check out his first flick?
