As we previously reported, WWE legend Rowdy Roddy Piper passed away back in July at 61-years-old — leaving behind his wife and four children.
And on Wednesday, the cause of his death was finally revealed.
Reportedly, the star died of a pulmonary embolism that triggered a heart attack.
The late athlete suffered from hypertension which led to chronic high blood pressure and eventually the blood clot in his lungs. Unfortunately, we're not shocked by this news as clotting is often a side effect to high blood pressure.
Previously Roddy, whose real name is Roderick George Toombs, was a cancer survivor before his untimely death. Nonetheless, it was just last year that the wrestler confirmed his cancer was in remission.
We're still saddened by the news that this legend is no longer with us — we can only imagine what his family is going through.
Our hearts go out to Roddy's loved ones during this difficult time.
