tyler clementi parents speak

It's been well over a year since Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi committed suicide after his roommate Dharun Ravi streamed a video of Tyler with another man over the Internet.

For the first time since Tyler's death, his parents have decided to open about their son.

Here's what his mother Jane had to say:

Dharun Ravi Is NOT Getting Off The Hook In Tyler Clementi Case!

The suicide of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, who killed himself after Dharun Ravi secretly filmed him having sex with another man and broadcast it over the internet, shocked the nation almost a year ago, and now, it appears that the roommate and his lawyer are now claiming that the whole thing was a big misunderstanding!

Good! What he did was WRONG!

Although Dharun Ravi, the Rutgers University student who secretly filmed roommate Tyler Clementi being intimate with another man and broadcast it over the internet - which ultimately led to his suicide last year - had attempted to assert that the entire thing was a misunderstanding, Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Glenn Berman has ruled that he will NOT be dismissing his 15 criminal charges, including bias and intimidation, against him.

During the hearing this morning, he announced:

University of Florida Vs. Jersey Shore

Filed under: TV NewsMTVParty Poppin'SnookiThe Situation

university of florida vs jersey shore

Rutgers University certainly wouldn't have a problem with this…

As the Jersey Shore cast begins partying it up in Italy, University of Florida students studying abroad have been warned not to partake in the Jerseyrrific festivities, at the risk of expulsion.

The drama all started when an abroad student partied on camera with the Jersey folks.

Here's the email that was sent to students following the incident:

"Any student who does agree to participate in the filming of the show, or who signs a waiver or legal agreement of any sort with MTV, will be dismissed from the program immediately."

While they're obviously still not a fan of their students partaying Jersey-style, UF Director of Public Affairs Janine Sikes released the following statement, contradicting the first email:

"Generally speaking, students may participate in activities outside their Study Abroad program as long as they meet the academic and living requirements of that program. This is a reversal of the UF administrator’s position."

We're glad to hear it! As long as students are responsible, don't party TOO hard, and maintain their grades, then we think they should def be allowed to spend a night at the club with Snooki and The Situation!

Do U think it would have been okay for the University of Florida to ban students from partying with the Jersey Shore cast?

UPDATE: University of Florida's Janine Sikes is saying that this is all untrue, and she's calling out TMZ, who originally broke the story:

"Signing a contract as described by TMZ would not violate UF's Student Conduct Code and students would not be subject to any discipline."

All types of conflicting stories here! What's the deal, UF? Are you guys down with Jersey Shore or what? LOLz.

Reality Star Books AREN'T Selling…With Exceptions

reality star books not selling with exceptions

We see books by reality stars everywhere…but are we actually buying them???

According to THR, we're definitely buying Bethenny Frankel's first two books, which in total sold 480,000 copies!

Despite Bethenny's success, we're NOT buying books by NeNe Leakes, Jill Zarin, and Danielle Staub, who all sold fewer than 10,000 copies! Yikes!

Teresa Giudice's cookbook has fared better though, with 100,000 copies solid…but then we've got Snooki who only sold 35,000 copies and The Situation who sold 15,000 copies….

Ah well! Even if these reality-star-turned-authors lose shelf space at Barnes and Noble, they'll always have a place at Rutgers University! Ha!

Have U bought any books by reality stars? If so, what did U think of them?

Tyler Clementi's Parents Move Forward With Lawsuit Against Roommate

tyler clementi parents move forward with lawsuit against roommate

Back in September, we were truly saddened to hear about the suicide of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, who killed himself after roommates secretly filmed him having sex with another man and broadcast it over the internet.

Tyler's parents have moved forward with a lawsuit on their deceased son's behalf, and the Middlesex County, NJ Prosecutor's Office announced today that a 15-count indictment was filed against Tyler's former roommate Dharun Ravi.

Ravi could face up to five years in prison for his charges.

As far as the other responsible classmate Molly Wei is concerned, she's been charged with invasion of privacy, but her case hasn't been presented to a grand jury YET.

Here's what Tyler's parents had to say about the current status of their case:

"The grand jury indictment spells out cold and calculated acts against our son Tyler by his former college roommate. We are eager to have the process move forward for justice in this case and to reinforce the standards of acceptable conduct in our society."

We couldn't agree more! We truly hope that justice is served.

Our hearts continue to go out to Tyler's family, friends, and loved ones. Such an awful, unnecessary tragedy.

Rutgers Parents Are NOT Happy About Snooki's Lecture Appearance At The School

Filed under: Icky Icky PooSnookiThe SituationJwoww

rutgers parents pissed about snooki appearance

Last week, we learned that Rutgers University paid Jersey Shore's Snooki $2,000 MORE than Nobel/Pulitzer Prize-winner Toni Morrison to appear at the school.

Now, Rutgers is getting some serious backlash from parents for inviting the hard partying, Jersey Shore star to talk at their institution.

Here's what Rutgers parent Nester Delgado had to say about it:

"It's disgusting. Next year, is it going to be J-WOWW or The Situation?"

More from parent Christine Getz:

"I don't think she's a good representation of a role model for my kids."

But why are they so mad, you might ask? Here's some of the advice that Snook gave students during her appearance:

"When you're tan, you feel better about yourself"

"Study hard, but party harder."

And here's what Rutgers University Programming Association's president Ana Castillo had to say about it:

"We're trying to provide different kinds of experiences to students."

Hmm…we could understand why Rutgers parents are upset, but Snooki DID write a book! That's gotta count for something, right?

…Right???

Do U think Rutgers made a mistake by paying Snooki to appear at their institution?

Oh, Rutgers! Snooki Visits University, Gets Paid More Than Toni Morrison

Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueSnooki

rutgers pays snooki more than toni morrison

Guess the Jersey Shore star is more of a draw than the Nobel/Pulitzer Prize-winner…

On Thursday, Snooki was paid $32,000 to speak at Rutgers about her hair.

Okay, she didn't ONLY talk about her hair…she also talked about fist pumping and tanning. LOLz.

This May, Toni Morrison will deliver Rutgers' commencement address…but she'll only get paid $30,000!

While we're sure Ms. Morrison will have solid, legit life advice for the graduating students, we suppose Snooki's advice is worth an extra two-grand.

Here's the advice that Snook had for Rutgers students:

"Study hard, but party harder."

$32,000 well spent!

Do U think Snooki deserved to be paid more than Toni Morrison for her Rutgers appearance?
