The Police Are On High Alert As Straight Outta Compton Opens In Theaters This Weekend!

no title

The police are beefing up patrols now that Straight Outta Compton has opened.

The film, which opened in El Lay and elsewhere around the country this weekend, is a particular sore spot in southern California for a few reasons.

First, the rash of theater shootings around the country unfortunately makes any film opening an uncertain event for law enforcement, and second, the gang stories shown in the film are concerning to El Lay law enforcement as they worry about rival gangs in theaters at the same time!

The Cause Of Harrison Ford's Terrifying Plane Crash Is Finally Revealed

We just hope this doesn't happen again!

As we reported this March, Harrison Ford was piloting a plane when he lost control and crash-landed on Penmar Golf Course in Venice, CA.

Well now, we are hearing the official word as to what lead to the incident that left the legendary actor with several injuries.

According to a report from the National Transportation Safety Board, the vintage yellow and silver WWII aircraft malfunctioned because it's carburetor was worn-out and broken.

Essentially, the machine part became loose and rotated after years of use.

The document explains:

"The unseated jet would have allowed an increased fuel flow through the main metering orifice, producing an extremely rich fuel-to-air ratio, which would have resulted in the loss of engine power."

According to the Board, it is not required to check the status of this equipment prior to flight.

In air, the Star Wars thespian realized something wasn't right.

The report states:

"Shortly after takeoff, the pilot advised the air traffic control tower controller that the engine had lost power, and the pilot requested an immediate return to the airport. The pilot initiated a left turn toward the airport; however, during the approach, he realized that the airplane was unable to reach the runway. Subsequently, the airplane struck the top of a tree and then impacted the ground in an open area of a golf course."

We're just glad Harrison survived the crash.

Scary stuff!

On Wednesday, IKEA announced that they were recalling around 27 million chests and dressers because they pose a fatal risk to children!

Along with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Swedish retail giant reported that two children died in 2014 after IKEA's MALM chests fell on them.

Why? Because they were not anchored to a wall.

Even though the dressers are being recalled, customers are encouraged to order a free wall anchoring kit for the affected chests and dressers instead of returning them.

While they have already banned the annoying contraptions from rides — wow, THAT could get dangerous — a FULL ban will begin on Tuesday June 30 for Disneyland and Disney World parks.

The ban will go into effect the next day for Disney locations in Paris and Hong Kong!

Attendees who bring a selfie stick will be allowed to check them in at the front gate before they enter the park, but Disney is encouraging visitors to simply leave them at home!

This news comes shortly after Comic-Con and Cannes put similar bans into effect, and this is a trend we're starting to see more and more!
