It was a Merry Christmas indeed for the film industry!!

Two of the season's blockbusters— Les Misérables and Django Unchained— got a BIG visit from Santa Claus this year with HUGE earnings from yesterday's movie theaters.

Not only did Les Miz recieve the #1 advance ticket sales of all Christmas releases EVER, but the musical also earned the top spot at the box office with total grosses at approximately $18 million.

A very different kind of film, Quentin Tarantino's gory Django Unchained, trailed close behind with earnings of approximately $15 million yesterday.

One studio exec explained the reasoning behind the films' success, sharing:

Les Mis isn't so miserable after all!!!

Fandango.com is reporting that the awards season favorite, Les Miserables, is the #1 selling film in advance Christmas ticket sales EVER.

With still a week away from Santa's worldwide sleigh ride, the flick starring Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman has already surpassed Sherlock Holmes 2009 record.

Not only that, but the drama has also broken the #1 advanced ticket sales record for musicals, beating out 2006's Dream Girls.

Well, none of this is hard to believe considering Les Mis became the longest running on-stage musical waaayyyy back in 2006 with its 21st birthday!!

Summit Entertainment is reporting that Breaking Dawn: Part 2 has just grossed an estimated $30.4 million from both Thursday night and midnight Friday viewings.

And that's pretty huge when you think about how much Hot Topic-shopping you could do with all of that, but unfortunately — it's not as big as Part 1's opening was.

That blockbuster made an astounding $30.3M just from the 12:01am shows.

Ohhh you better clutch your wand tight Harry Potter, ’cause the Twilight vamps are coming for that ass!!

Unsurprisingly, it seems the final installment in the Twilight franchise, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2, is going to make SO much lovely box-office gold!
