Zooey's Not Into Heels, But Loves "Cheapy" Clothes

zooey-deschanel-on-fashion-shopping-and-shoes.jpg

We already knew Zooey Deschanel had a thing for tights, but did you know she has a things for flats too?

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter the actress and singer opened up about fashion and her style.

Here's what she had to say:

Favorite article of clothing:

"Oh that’s a hard one, I would have to say ballet flats. I’m really into flat shoes."

Favorite fall fashion item:

"You know um the cool thing about living in Southern California is that you could kind of wear anything any time of the year so I don’t really think in seasons as much, but I usually look for things that I like that will look good on my body.”

Favorite city to shop:

"You know I actually have been all over in the world shopping and it’s interesting to see that there are a lot of, you’ll find a lot of treasures in like little places that you’ll stop. I was on tour all last year and Salt Lake City has amazing vintage shopping, for instance."

Favorite high fashion item:

"Um… fashion, I don’t know I buy a lot of clothes so I can’t think, but I like to buy cheapy clothes."

Nothing wrong with that!

Karma Points Galore! Family Finds $45,000…And RETURNS IT!

family finds 45k and returns it

Looks like this family's conscience was working overtime!!!

Earlier this week, Salt Lake City man Josh Ferrin and family closed a deal on a new home. When Josh entered the garage, he found a hatch, climbed inside, and pulled out a metal box…which contained A LOT of money!

Here's what Ferrin had to say about it:

"I freaked out, locked it [in] my car, and called my wife to tell her she wouldn't believe what I had found."

After that, he found more boxes filled with money, and in total he discovered $40,000 in boxes and $5,000+ dollars on a table in the hatch.

More from Ferrin:

"I'm not perfect, and I wish I could say there was never any doubt in my mind. We knew we had to give it back, but it doesn't mean I didn't think about our car in need of repairs, how we would love to adopt a child and aren't able to do that right now, or fix up our outdated house that we just bought. But the money wasn't ours to keep and I don't believe you get a chance very often to do something radically honest, to do something ridiculously awesome for someone else and that is a lesson I hope to teach to my children."

Here's what Ferrin had to say about the previous owner Arnold Bangerter, who passed away and left the house to his children:

"I could imagine him in his workshop. From time to time, he would carefully bundle up $100 with twine, climb up into his attic and put it into a box to save. And he didn't do that for me."

Sure enough, Josh returned the money to its rightful owners. Here's what Kay Bangerter (one of the rightful owners) had to say about it:

"He grew up in hard times and people that survived that era didn't have anything when they came out of it unless they saved it themselves. He was a saver, not a spender. [This is] a story that will outlast our generation and probably yours as well."

And more from Ferrin:

"I'm a father, and I worry about the future for my kids. I can see him putting that money away for a rainy day and it would have been wrong of me to deny him that thing he worked on for years. I felt like I got to write a chapter in his life, a chapter he wasn't able to finish and see it through to its conclusion."

Good for you, Josh! That's certainly an extremely noble, selfless, and karmatastic thing to do, which begs this question:

Would U have done the same thing as Josh? Or would U have kept the money?

…Answer honestly! LOLz.

SO Handy! New iPhone App Finds Parking Spaces

new iphone app finds parking spaces

Forget Angry Birds! This is WAY more useful!

Streetline's new Parker app, which costs $1.99, locates available parking spaces for users. So cool!

The app currently works in the Hollywood district of El Lay and NYC's Roosevelt Island. It will be adding Washington, D.C's Fort Totten Metro station soon, and Salt Lake City will be coming later in 2011.

Here's Streetline CEO Zia Yusuf on the parking technology:

"We want to make guided parking as prevalent as the traffic light. Five to seven years from now, kids will say 'What do you mean you used to look for parking? Didn't they just tell you where the parking spots were?' I think that's going to become a reality."

This is great! Not only is it handy, but it could help reduce road rage. People can get pret-ty grumpy while circling endlessly through overcrowded parking lots. We're on board!

Will U pick up the Streetline Parker app when/if it becomes available for your area?

Ex Celeb Rehab Rocker Mike Starr Arrested On Drug Charges

Filed under: DrugsMusic MinuteLegal MattersVH1Dr. Drew

alice-in-chains-bassist-mike-starr-arrested-on-drug-charges.jpg

We wonder what Dr. Drew has to say about this.

Former bassist of Alice in Chains Mike Starr was arrested on Thursday for alleged drug possession in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The rocker was a patient on the third season of VH1's Celebrity Rehab. In fact, he appeared clean and sober on the most recent season and spoke to the current patients about getting clean after the show finished filming.

It's uncertain what kind of drugs Mike had in his possession at the time of his arrest, however he's still in jail being held on a $20,000 bond.

It's really unfortunate it had to go down like this. We hope Mike is willing to go back to rehab and gets back on the road to getting clean again.

What a bummer! The ticket sales must be getting really rough!

The 2010 Lilith Fair Tour has announced the cancellation of ten upcoming shows!

Co-found Terry McBride explains:

“We are in the midst of one of the most challenging summer concert seasons with many tours being cancelled outright. Everyone involved with the tour would like to apologize to the fans and artists scheduled to play in these markets, and express appreciation for all the support for the festival’s return. Lilith remains the only tour of its kind, and we are confident that fans will be amazed by what each date has to offer.”

The all-woman music tour will no longer be playing in Salt Lake City, Montreal, Raleigh, Charlotte, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Birmingham, Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Refunds are available to those who already purchased tickets.

Rough!

What do U think?? Are U disappointed to see Lilith Fair under performing??

Gary Coleman Laid To Rest This Weekend

wenn233491239__opt__opt1.jpg

A funeral is being arranged for this weekend for the late actor Gary Coleman. His lawyer, Randy Kester, announced this afternoon that the service will take place either on Friday or Saturday, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

At this time, the family has yet to decide on whether to have a private family service or a public one to commemorate Gary's life. However, Mr. Kester did release the following statement to clarify some of the lingering questions concerning Gary's funeral arrangements, among other things. The statement reads:

“The funeral will take place towards the end of the week either Friday or Saturday in Salt Lake City. It will be at a funeral home and the family is still deciding if it will be a private event or it will be open to his fans too.

Although Gary was not a deeply religious person, he did believe in an after life. Although I cannot discuss personal details like if he had a legal will or if he will be buried or cremated.

I just spoke with his wife Shannon and she is still shocked that Gary has gone, but she is getting on with planning the funeral now and taking care of the business aspect of things.

I’m not aware that Gary had mountains of debt or anything like that and he was getting-by doing jobs here and there.

It’s sad that he died aged only 42, but the doctors did not think he would make it past 25 because all of his health issues.”

Here's hoping there is an afterlife for Gary and he is happier there now.

We continue to send our condolences to his family and friends in this most difficult of times.
