Happy National Donut Day! This is the perfect holiday to celebrate the sweet — wait… are we having deja vu? Didn't we already celebrate D-Day back in June?

Well, it turns out there are TWO national donut days!

The first of the holidays is on June 3, and was established by the Salvation Army back in 1938 to honor the Dough Lassies — female volunteers who made donuts for soldiers serving overseas!

The second celebration on November 5 was completely made up by national food councils as a way of selling more of those delicious circular pastries!

Hey, if it gives us an excuse to binge on some Krispy Kreme, we're not complaining — and neither are these celebs who got caught snacking on donuts!

Salvation Army Documents Leak & Show It's Still Discriminating Against The LGBT Community

Filed under: Gay Gay GayBusiness BlitzLGBT

Ugh, this is very disappointing to hear.

The Salvation Army has had their share of scandals when it comes to the LGBT community, and despite what they say publicly, it seems that they're still pretty darn homophobic. Well, at least when it comes to the people who work for them.

[ Related: Salvation Army Receives A Sparkly Donation ]

The Methodist organization claims to be non-discriminatory against anyone, including the LGBT community, but internal documents that have been leaked say something much different. For example, it's illegal to not hire someone based on sexual orientation, but the Salvation Army will sure as heck tell you what you can and can't do about your sexuality. In a memo written by midwest Commissioner Paul Seiler, titled "LGBT issues," everything is laid plain. Including the mention that "This is not for public use, including social media of any sort."

Within the memo, the SA explains that they will police the relationships of the organization's officers, because:

Mini Horse Rings Bell For Salvation Army & Brings In A LOT Of $$$!!

We've seen many people ring bells for the Salvation Army, but never a HORSE, until now!!!

Earlier today, a mini horsey that goes by the name of Tinker rang a bell for the wonderful organization in Wisconsin, and he was raking in some major dough.

Tinker's owner, Carol Takacs wanted to make raising money a lot more interesting, so she came up with the idea to teach her horse how to ring a bell.

After the cute little cupcake learned how to do the task, he now brings in TEN TIMES more $$$ than anyone else!!

Now that's how you make loot!!!

Ch-ch-check out Tinker in action (above)!

What Happens To Your Old Thrift Store Clothes….

The old clothes that you donate to thrift stores may not be the precious treasures that you think everyone wants!

Oh no, there's a much more selective process as to how your clothes are picked for the thrift store floor and where your castoffs are sent off to.

While "most Americans are thoroughly convinced there is another person in their direct vicinity who truly needs and wants our unwanted clothes," the truth of the matter is that your old rags are being seriously judged!

Salvation Army Receives A Sparkly Donation

Here's something that will warm the cockles of your heart.

An anonymous donor dropped a $2000 diamond and sapphire ring into a Salvation Army kettle last week outside of a Miami Kmart.

Salvation Army Capt. Linda Payton retrieved the ring after a call came in from a woman who said there was something special in the kettle.

Payton reveals:

"Inside the kettle was, wrapped in a rubber band, a $50 bill and inside the $50 bill was a note, and inside the note was a ring."

The note read "They need more than I. Do good! A Friend."

Aww. See, that's what the holidays are all about!

Demand For Food Rising While Donations Are Falling

Demand For Food Rising While Donations Are Falling

In case you’ve missed the endless news coverage of it, our economy is still in shambles, and people across the country are struggling to put food on the table.

Places like Salvation Army normally pick up the slack and give food to families in need. Unfortunately, due to a decrease in food and money donations and increase in demand, they’re running low on food.

Said Major Darryl Leedom, the Salvation Army's regional commander for Minneapolis and St. Paul:

"Here in Minnesota we have the new poor, the working poor, the underemployed, the unemployed — it's a dynamic shift in the population of people coming in. Many of those individuals have already exhausted their savings and financial support from friends and family, so it took them a while before they found it necessary to come in for food assistance."

Food banks across the country are struggling to keep up with the increase in demand.

If you are able, DONATE to a local food bank! Find out how you can help by going here. We are all in this together — help out a neighbor in need!
