Thirty-five years ago, Roman Polanski raped Samantha Geimer.
The acclaimed filmmaker was in his mid 40s when he had sex with a 13 year-old girl at Jack Nicholson's home after allegedly drugging her and getting her drunk.
Tired of living in the negative limelight of an Oscar-winning director's sex scandal, Samantha — now 47 — is releasing her memoirs entitled The Girl: Emerging from the Shadow of Roman Polanski.
We honestly aren't sure how a book about the horrible incident back in 1977 will help the world forget about it, but she

Well, this is bound to piss some people off.
A little bit over a year ago, Roman Polanski's rape victim Samantha Geimer spoke up about the director's crime on Larry King Live.
Now, Polanski is being honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Zurich Film Festival on Sept. 27.
While we understand that he's had an impressive career, we're not sure if someone with his criminal track record deserves so much positive recognition.
What do U think? Does Roman Polanski deserve a lifetime achievement award???

It's actually fascinating to hear her take on everything.
Check out (above) these clips from Larry King Live of Samantha Geimer, who was raped by Roman Polanski when she was 13, discuss the horrific event and explain that she doesn't blame him as much as she does the media for the way they handled reporting on her and the court case!
We obviously still think that Polanski should be held accountable for his despicable crime, but we also understand that the victim herself has every right to feel however she wants about what she endured.
What do U think?? Do U agree with Geimer's perspective on Polanski??

Samantha Geimer, the rape victim of Roman Polanski, wants prosecutors to stop the case against the director.
"Enough is enough. This matter should have been resolved 33 years ago…People say I have ulterior motives. That doesn't make it true. I've felt this way from the beginning," she says, adding that he isn't a threat to anyone. "At 76 years old? I don't think so."
But officials in both LA And Washington say they will continue using their limited options to pursue Polanski. State Department spokesman Philip Crowley says:
“A 13-year-old girl was drugged and raped. This is not a matter of technicality.”
We agree!

And at this point, they don't even care what the victim has to say!
Prosecutors in the Roman Polankski statutory rape case are pushing to deny the victim's request to have the charges dropped.
The now 32-year-old Samantha Geimer tried to rid herself of the incident and drop charges because the media frenzy around the case has affected her job and health.
But her pleas will not be heard!
According to court papers, prosecutors have urged a California appeals court to dismiss Geimer's attempt to throw out the case because she has "no right or authority to dictate the outcome of a criminal case".
Polanksi should face charges, but hasn't Miss Geimer been through enough?!
Poor thing.
