We are LOVING this new trend of songs promoting equality! Hot off the heels off Macklemore and his hit Same Love comes Jillette Johnson and Cameron, about a special boy who just happens to be different (yet not so different) from other boys.
If Sara Bareilles - whom we love - made a gay song, it would be this!
Our hearts are just OVERFLOWING with love and pride after hearing this!
We've been playing Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's song Same Love nonstop since we first heard it. And now, that tune is getting its own spinoff!
Vocalist and co-writer Mary Lambert has released She Keeps Me Warm, which takes the chorus that she sang in Same Love and gives it its own track to shine on!
If we could, we would hug this song and never let it go! LOVE IT!!!
As an openly gay musician, the lyrics in Mary's song are ACTUALLY about her real life girlfriend! She never thought she would see a day though where she could sing about the girl she loved. Mary said on her website:
Hip hop hasn't exactly embraced acceptance of the LGBT community over the years, but fortunately that's starting to change.
Frank Ocean inspired many artists to rethink their stance on the issue earlier this year and now a duo going by the name Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are continuing to put equality into the minds of music lovers around the world.
Along with the lovely vocals of Mary Lambert, the hip hop collaborators appeared on Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show on Tuesday to perform their same-sex marriage anthem, Same Love (above).
The beautifully articulate lyrics are truly inspiring and the song is beyond incredible. This is one tune that will be on our playlist for a while.
The rising hip hop stars are the same guys behind the hit single, Thrift Shop, which is as fun as music gets. Check out the music videos for both songs … AFTER THE JUMP!!!
