We were surprised to hear last week about Apple's hardline stance on unlocking the iPhone of San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook for the FBI.

Though Tim Cook released his refusal as an open letter, many still don't understand what the fuss is about.

So the CEO sat down with ABC News to explain in depth why the corporation would not create a backdoor into people's phones for the government, saying:

"We know that doing this could expose people to incredible vulnerabilities. This is not something that we would create. This would be bad for America. It would also set a precedent that I believe many people in America would be offended by."

Powerful words. Do YOU agree this would endanger all Americans' rights?

Now, the suspected shooter's sister is opening up about her brother's horrific crimes. Saira Khan doesn't believe her sibling can be forgiven, telling CBS News:

"I don't even know if I would forgive him. Just because of what he did."

Her husband, Farhan Kahn, also agrees that his brother-in-law's terrible actions can't possibly be justified, adding:

"With what he did, no. What he did to his own family, to his daughter, to our family, to the innocent people there — no. I wouldn't forgive him."

Saira was in complete disbelief when she learned her family members were responsible for the senseless shooting, saying:

"I can never imagine my brother or my sister-in-law doing something like this. Especially because they were happily married, they had a beautiful 6-month-old daughter. It's just mind boggling why they would do something like this."

Her husband admitted to NBC News that they've begun the legal process of adopting the defenseless six-month-old daughter Syed and his wife had left behind.

Saira wondered if she could have possibly prevented the terrible tragedy, reflecting:

Female San Bernardino Shooter Reportedly Pledged Allegiance To ISIS The Day Of The Attack

UPDATE 3:13 P.M. EST: It has now been confirmed that Tashfeen used an alias to post a Facebook status praising an ISIS leader just as the shooting took place. AP also reports that Aamaq, a news agency with ties to ISIS, has said that Tashfeen and Syed were supporters of the terrorist organization, but did not take responsibility for the attacks.

This story just continues to get more terrifying.

As you've probably heard, one of the worst mass shootings in American history took place on Wednesday when a husband and wife shot and killed 14 people while injuring another 21 at a holiday party in San Bernardino, California.

While we know that Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, were killed in a police standoff a few hours after the initial shooting — and that they left behind a 6-month-old daughter — more details are starting to emerge about their motives.

According to an ABC News report, Tashfeen allegedly pledged allegiance to ISIS just hours before the fatal attack, clearly indicating that this was much more than simple workplace violence.

While the FBI has yet to verify that the couple were aided by the terrorist organization in any way, we do know that Tashfeen, born in Pakistan and raised in Saudi Arabia, came to America in 2014 as Syed's fiancée and the two were married that August.

In addition to the supposed ISIS ties, the fact that the pair had 4,600 rounds of ammo and 12 pipe bombs in their possession does nothing to ease fears.

Our thoughts continue to be with everyone affected by the killings — and with the innocent child left behind.

Before she learned about her husband's heartbreaking death, Renee Wetzel wrote in to the blog Lil' Mamas, asking for positive thoughts, saying:

"Please pray. My husband was in a meeting and a shooter came in. There are multiple people dead/shot. I can't get a hold of him."

It wasn't until 8 hours later that the momma-of-six learned her love's life had been taken in the terrible tragedy.

Following the news of Michael's untimely death, the blog's president Celia Behar organized a fundraiser for the grieving family.
