Federal Agents Remove Critically Ill Salvadoran Woman Awaiting Emergency Surgery From Hospital To Detention Center
Sara Beltran-Hernandez, a 26-year-old mother-of-two, was awaiting an emergency surgery for a brain tumor this week — but was instead forcibly moved by federal agents from the hospital to a detention center following Donald Trump's immigration ban.
A little background: Beltran-Hernandez was seeking asylum in the United States as a victim of domestic abuse in El Salvador back in November 2015 when she was picked up by immigration agents on her way to New York to visit her mother.
She's been detained in Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas ever since — until she was hospitalized in Fort Worth after a doctor discovered the brain tumor.
Just before her scheduled emergency surgery this weekend, the critically ill woman was bound by her hands and feet and taken back to the Alvarado detention facility.
