This could have ended very differently.
As we previously reported, Todd Palin was seriously injured in a snowmobile accident in Alaska Sunday night, and while his wife Sarah Palin is far from our favorite celeb, we'd never wish harm on her or her family.
That's why we're excited to report that despite two collapsed lungs, multiple broken bones, and a bruised liver, the 51-year-old is currently expected to recover.
The former GOP Vice Presidential Nominee shared an update on her husband's health on Facebook Thursday afternoon, saying:
This is awkward!
And somehow the real estate mogul decided to make an off-color joke about it! Too soon anyone??
The Donald, talking to a room full of supporters about the terror attacks in San Bernardino several months ago, quipped that if Todd had been in the room with the terrorists, he would have shot back.
But then, the presidential candidate decided to amend his statement in the tackiest way….

Though we absolutely do NOT agree with Sarah Palin's viewpoints — especially her recent comments at a Donald Trump rally — we are still concerned about her husband Todd Palin's health after his very serious snowmobile accident.
As we reported, Todd was involved in a crash and was taken to intensive care where was in critical condition but stable.
A source close to the situation revealed Todd suffered "a variety of internal injuries" that include eight broken ribs and two collapsed lungs. Sarah's husband is reportedly waiting to undergo surgery.
Kevin Kastner, the executive director of Iron Dog, the organizer of a 2000-mile snowmobile race that former politician's husband competes in, revealed to People that he spoke with Todd's father and learned:
Y'all want to see something ugly??
Palin, who would later leave the event to tend to her seriously injured husband, was talking about The Donald's recent news-making ways, and she decided to go a little too far when criticizing protestors that have shown up at so many Trump events recently!
Using that folksy
racism straight talk for which she is so famous, Palin referred to protests at Trump's campaign events — which sometimes end in the protesters being assaulted — as "petty, punk-ass little thuggery."
She then criticized the media — and went on to talk about a revolution!
Ch-ch-check out the terrible speech (below):
While Sarah Palin has been an advocate for the GOP frontrunner, it seems she may have to step away from her duties of supporting Trump in person!
That's because shortly after the former Alaskan governor campaigned for the businessman at Arcadia All Florida Championship Rodeo and Strawberry Festival — yes, it's a real thing — Palin's husband, Todd Palin, had an accident, and the 52-year-old booked it back to Alaska.
A source close to the family told People:
As we told you earlier this month, Bristol Palin and baby daddy #2 Dakota Meyer reached an interim custody agreement — but now a more permanent ruling has been put in place as an Alaska Superior Court Judge ruled that the former couple must share both legal and physical custody of their daughter.
According to court papers obtained by DailyMail, the judge ultimately decided it would be in the best interest of baby Sailor Grace to remain in Alaska with Bristol, but Meyer will be able to visit the wee one from Kentucky twice a month for four consecutive days each.
Although Sarah Palin's daughter originally objected to visits longer than four hours due to her breastfeeding schedule, text messages sent to Meyer prove that the momma-of-two is actually only breastfeeding Sailor at night.
The judge said:
