Al Franken Accuser Leeann Tweeden Doesn't Want The Senator To Step Down — Here's Why She Decided To Come Forward With Her Allegations

Leeann Tweeden didn't accuse Sen. Al Franken of sexual misconduct to drive him out of office. She did it to empower victims, herself included.

The journalist and radio host stopped by Good Morning America on Friday to explain why she waited so long to come forward with allegations against the Senator, whom she claims groped and kissed her without consent during a 2006 USO trip to the Middle East.

Tweeden told Robin Roberts after holding on to her story for over 10 years, she was inspired to tell her truth after seeing so many women come forward with sexual harassment and assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein and other powerful men over the past month.

But unlike Weinstein's accusers, Tweeden doesn't want to see her alleged abuser out of power. She explained:

Donald Trump SLAMS Sen. Al Franken Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations & Twitter Reminds POTUS He's An Admitted Sexual Assaulter

no title

If you thought admitted sexual assaulter Donald Trump wouldn't see the irony in commenting on the sexual misconduct allegations made against Senator Al Franken, think again!

On Thursday, the Democrat apologized to TV host Leeann Tweeden after she accused him of groping and kissing her without consent during a '06 USO Tour. He condemned his own actions and requested an "ethics investigation be undertaken."

Of course, POTUS couldn't miss the opportunity to slam his political adversary for being too handsy, apparently forgetting that he was once recorded on video telling Billy Bush where his hands go around pretty women.

On Thursday evening, Trump wrote a "tsk, tsk"-natured tweet about the former Saturday Night Live writer — and offer his latest zinger "Al Frankenstien" — with the gusto of a man who has never been accused of sexual assault himself.

Thankfully, Twitter was right there to call out the president's painfully un-self-aware response, reminding Trump about that time he was recorded bragging about grabbing women "by the pussy." Others pointed the hypocrisy in Trump calling out Franken for inappropriate behavior but claiming he was "too focused on policy" to comment on the allegations made against his GOP pal Roy Moore.

See what Trump had to say (below) — along with the infuriated responses!

Senator Al Franken Apologizes AGAIN & Asks That An 'Ethics Investigation Be Undertaken' Amid Groping Scandal!

al franken apologizes again twitter reacts

Now this is a significantly better apology.

As we previously reported, Senator Al Franken apologized to TV host Leeann Tweeden after she accused him of groping and kissing her without consent during a '06 USO Tour of the Middle East. Initially, the comedian turned politician attempted to downplay the scandal by noting that he didn't "remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way," but offered up his "sincerest apologies" regardless.

The Saturday Night Live alum also apologized for the photo where he appeared to be groping Tweeden as she slept. While he defended that the picture "was clearly intended to be funny," he acknowledged it was not. Since the initial statement, Franken has since come forward to condemn his actions and requested that an "ethics investigation be undertaken."
