Glee Gets SERIOUS In Shooting Star! WATCH All The Performances From Last Night's Episode HERE!

We've NEVER been so anxious while watching an episode of Glee than we were during last night's harrowing depiction of a potential school shooting in Shooting Star

And because the subject matter WAS extremely serious, showrunner Ryan Murphy obviously had to handle it delicately so that it did NOT seem like he was trivializing a complex, sensitive subject, which is probably why he decided to include very few musical numbers.

The performances that DID make the cut were emotional, yet simply orchestrated, and they provided a much needed break from the consistent tension.

Ch-ch-check out the Gleeks singing Stay (above)!

Then, watch as Ryder attempts to seduce his online fantasy girl with Elton John's romantic classic Your Song and try to stem the tears while Brittany and the members of New Directions serenade Lord Tubbington with More Than Words …AFTER THE JUMP!!!

(Too close to home for parents in the small Connecticut town, as we reported earlier.)

But if we may say so, we thought the episode, while emotionally charged and frightfully dramatic, never stepped over the bounds of gratuitously exploiting the circumstances. Truly, we thought the storyline was handled tastefully, and just perhaps, it opened up a difficult dialogue for parents and teachers to have with their kids.

So, what exactly was the storyline? Well, as the kids all convene in their beloved Choir room for a seemingly uneventful day of singing and laughter, two shots
