Goat Rehab: Can Goats Overcome Past Abuse?

In the UK, scientists from Queen Mary, University of London have been doing an inneresting experiment.

They're looking to measure the moods of goats at a sanctuary in Kent, trying to see how well the animals can recover from neglect and abuse.

What they did was test the goats in a special enclosure that had hidden food surprises.

They studied how optimistic or pessimistic the goats were as to whether or not they'd find food.

The best part about this study, other than showing even farm animals have a complex emotional life, was that it showed mistreated animals can still be fully rehabilitated!

That's so ahamyzing!!

Check out the video (above) to see the scientists in action with some cutie goats!

Dolphins Have Names And Use Them!

Dolphin

Bottlenose dolphins are so crazy smart and cute we want to be friends with one!

We'd swim into the ocean and introduce ourselves, then, the craziest part is, they could introduce themselves to us: by telling us their name!!

Of course we'd only understand it if we spoke dolphinese but it's still a pretty cool fact.

A recent study published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B found that bottlenose dolphins have signature whistles and can use the signature whistles of other dolphins.

Rat Kidney Produced In Lab May Lead To Eventual Human Transplants

ratkidney

Each year, 17,000 people receive a kidney transplant, but it's the number of people that don't receive one that is so astounding.

THAT number is about 17,000 people times FIVE, which is why news that scientists have made functioning rat kidneys at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston is SO amazing!!!!

When the kidneys were transplanted into rats - they effectively produced urine for the rodents!

Normally rat urine isn't very exciting, but this could be a first step towards creating replacement organs for folks who suffer from kidney diseases.

tarantulas(1)

Be afraid.

Be VERY afraid!

A brand new type of tarantula has been found in Sri Lanka with a leg span of 8 inches. That's about the size of a face.

Scientists believe they are part of the Poecilotheria genus, and they're finding them not just in the forest.

But in old buildings, too!

Here's what a scientist said:

Dragonflies Are Pretty…Pretty Deadly!!!

dragonfly(2)

Dragonflies are one of the prettiest insects that we've seen on this earth!

But like Milla Jovovich in The Fifth Element - the beautiful ones are always the most dangerous! LOLz!

Apparently dragonflies are one of nature's most deadliest predators. And not only that, they're pretty darn efficient, too!
