MASSIVE 18-Foot Oarfish Found Off Cali Coast!! See The Crazy Pic HERE!

Massive 18-foot-long Oarfish found off the California coast!

A marine science instructor was snorkeling off the coast of sunny SoCal when they spotted something pretty amazing:

An 18-foot-long Oarfish!!

Jasmine Santana of the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) saw the huge, shiny, silver body laying on the seafloor.

It's one of the largest oarfish they've seen at CIMI.

Oarfish tend to dive over 3,000-feet-deep so seeing them is pretty rare.

Luckily, when this 18-footer died of natural causes he floated up to where the scientists found him.

The giant oarfish can actually grow to an incredible 50-feet-long!!

They're apparently the reason for old, giant sea serpent myths.

Now, the fish is being buried in the sand to decompose so its skeleton can be reconstituted and put on display.

Congrats on the find, Jasmine!!

Science Discovers New Mammal Species! Hello Olinguito!

Science discovered a new mammal species: the Olinguito!

Wow! We had no idea this kind of thing even happened anymore!

We know science is always discovering new insect species and things like that and we totes understand.

Bugs are tiny, hard to spot and super gross, so we can see how there are so many more to discover.

But a mammal? A whole mammal??

That's right! The Olinguito looks like a small raccoon with the face of a teddy bear! It's so cute! How did no one recognize it earlier??

Basically, they're only just over a foot-long, live in the tops of trees in the mountainous woods of Ecuador and Colombia and are nocturnal. So they're not too easy to spot.

What's funny is one actually was at the Smithsonian-run National Zoo in Washington for a whole year, but its identity was mistaken! So funny!

Our favorite part is it's a carnivore but it eats mostly fruit! So it's compassionate too! LOLz!

What a cute little sweetie! Welcome to the world of science, Olinguito!

Amazing Cat Walks 200 Miles And Returns Home!

Science???? Who needs science when you have animal instincts!

Holly the cat didn't let a measly 190 miles separate her from her mama and papa, Bonnie and John Richter.

So the tough tortoiseshell kitty walked all the home!

Scientists have no idea how the indoor cat made the trip from Daytona Beach to West Palm Beach, FL. There is no research about cats and their navigation skills so the science world is STUMPED!
