Scrabble May Add "Twerk" & "Selfie" To Its Players Dictionary! Find Out How You Can Nominate Your Own Word Of Choice HERE!

These double words would definitely be a score!

Hasbro is letting people submit words they think should be added to its Scrabble's Players Dictionary via the comments section on its Hasbro Game Night Facebook page.

Their dictionary hasn't been updated in 9 years, and as you can imagine, relatively new words that have entered our lexicons (and our dance and photo skills) like "twerk" and "selfie" have already been suggested!

Fans can keep submitting choices until March 28th. At that point, finalists will be revealed on April 2nd, and then the first new Scrabble word in almost a decade will be announced on April 10th!

We wonder if "twerk" and "selfie" will make the final cut, or if their turn will be skipped!

Scrabble Strip Search??

Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueSilly!

Scrabble

During a recent battle of vocab at the World Scrabble Championship, one player went ballistic when the letter "G" disappeared from the board.

He demanded the authorities strip search Ed Martin so the precious playing piece could be found.

Just think about how many awesome words could be that "G." Gold, Gadgets, Galaxy, Glamorous, Gossip, Gadzookeries…

Unfortunately for the angry man, the request was denied. This is Scrabble after all, not Poker…

Cougarrific! 57-Year-Old Ellen Barkin Living With Director Barry Levinson's 26-Year-Old Son!

ellen barking living with 26 year old man

Okay, so maybe Ellen Barkin starred in her boyfriend's dad's movie Diner in 1982, when Sam wasn't even born yet. So what? LOLz.

57-year-old Tony nominated actress Ellen Barkin is currently living with her 26-year-old writer/director boyfriend Sam Levinson in NYC.

Here's what a source close to the couple had to say about them:

"They go out, they're photographed together, they don't keep it secret."

And here's what another source had to say about the couple's relationship:

"It works, but it's weird."

Sure, it's a little weird, but it sounds like she's in it for the long haul. Sources say that Barkin has told people she'll "part ways with him when 'they roll me out in a wheelchair.'"

We can't help but say "aww" to that one.

So, there's an age difference! As long as Sam's the kind of guy who prefers a leisurely night of Scrabble or perhaps a night at the theatre instead of loud, crowded dance clubs and jam-packed sports bars, then maybe this can work out!

What do U think about this couple? Is the age difference too much…or is age just a number?

WTF? OMG, LOL, & FYI Added To Oxford English Dictionary!

Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueTwitter

internet lingo enters dictionary

O RLY?

The online edition of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) has officially added OMG, LOL, and FYI to its pages.

Here's what the dictionary had to say about these additions:

"Of course in such a context initialisms are quicker to type than the full forms, and (in the case of text messages, or Twitter, for example) they help to say more in media where there is a limit to a number of characters one may use in a single message. OMG and LOL are found outside of electronic contexts, however - in print, and even in spoken use where there often seems to be a bit more than simple abbreviation going on."

And here's OED on uses of these "words," pre-Internet:

"OMG is from a personal letter from 1917; the letters LOL had a previous life, starting in 1960, denoting an elderly woman [as 'little old lady'] and the entry for FYI, for example, shows it originated in the language of memoranda in 1941."

More from OED's chief editor John Simpson:

"It is remarkable to see how much the environment has changed over the ten years since the OED first went online."

This is great news! You can say what you want about Internet lingo compromising the integrity of the English language…but there's no denying the fact that Scrabble just got a WHOLE lot easier!

Will U start using OMG, LOL, and FYI more, now that they're officially in the dictionary?
