AWFUL! Footage Shows Stressed SeaWorld Orca Banging Head Over And Over Against Enclosure!

no title

This is so infuriating!

An orca (AKA killer whale) at an aquatic attraction in the Canary Islands was captured on video in distress, banging its head against the enclosure as it tried to escape its small confinement.

Ric O'Barry's organization, Dolphin Project, captured the video (above) at Loro Parque, an attraction in the Spanish island territory just off the coast of Africa, and it shows some distressing moments.

The attraction apparently has six orca whales on premises, all of which are owned by SeaWorld. Four were sent there to breed, while one was born at the park, and the sixth was rescued from the wild.

It's that sixth whale — named Morgan — that O'Barry's activists believe is the one banging its head against the enclosure wall in the video.

Activists contend that she is stressed and scared in her enclosure, with one citing a study that observed her having trouble with a larger, more aggressive male orca that is affecting her quality of life:

The Japanese Finding Dory Trailer Shows Never-Before-Seen Footage! Sea All The Underwater Action!

no title

International waters have never looked more fun!

We've already gotten a few trailers for Finding Dory. But aside from the fact that the titular fish gets lost, we still know very little about the underwater tale — until now!

Thankfully, Pixar dropped the Japanese trailer for the upcoming sequel, and it gives us a MUCH bigger glimpse into the adventure that's to come!

The clip features footage that has yet to be shown in any other trailers — including a Sea World-esque marine park from which Dory will most likely attempt to escape!

Though the trailer is obviously dubbed in Japanese, fans don't need to understand the dialogue or narration to appreciate all the never before seen footage.

But it is fun hearing the Japanese Ellen DeGeneres! LOLz!

Ch-ch-check out the trailer (below) and catch Finding Dory in theaters June 17!

SeaWorld's Famous Killer Whale Tilikum — Subject Of The Documentary Blackfish — Is Dying!

This breaks our heart!

SeaWorld has announced one of the park's most popular killer whales is close to death.

On Tuesday, representatives from the marine park say Tilikum — the whale who was the subject of CNN's documentary Blackfish — has a bad bacterial infection.

Over the past few weeks, the Orca has become "resistant to treatment" for a possible infection in his lungs, and has exhibited increasingly "lethargic" behavior.

The park issued the following statement about Tilikum's health:

"We are saddened to report that over the past few weeks, Tilikum's behavior has become increasingly lethargic, and the SeaWorld veterinary and animal care teams are concerned that his health is beginning to deteriorate. The suspected bacteria is very resistant to treatment and a cure for his illness has not been found."

The roughly 35-year-old animal has lived at SeaWorld for 23 years, captured from his wild family when he was just two years old.

During his captivity, the whale has been involved in at least three human deaths — including the 2010 death of park trainer Dawn Brancheau, who one day was pulled into the water by Tilikum and aggressively played with until she died.

After Dawn's death, Tilikum was isolated from the rest of the whales, but kept at the center of SeaWorld's artificial insemination program — he's fathered 21 of the park's calves, only half of which are still alive today.

Though it sounds like the orca won't make it, some have not given up hope.

Check out the video (below) to hear SeaWorld's medical experts discuss Tilikum's treatment:

The happiest place on earth is battening down the hatches.

In the wake of the recent attacks on Paris and San Bernardino, Walt Disney World — along other theme parks like Sea World and Universal Studios — are beefing up security measures for the rest of the holiday season.

As of Thursday, Disney World has installed metal detectors at the park's entrance. California's Disneyland is scheduled to follow suit next week.

SeaWorld Is Finally Phasing Out Their Orca Shows! But Was This Their Decision Or The Law Forcing Their Hand..?

no title

Finally!

According to an investor's webcast that took place on Monday afternoon, SeaWorld is phasing out their orca shows at their San Diego location after guests responded strongly over the past several years.

An unnamed park representative, speaking on the webcast for investors, said of the decision to cut back on the park's killer whale shows:

"The main point is we are listening to our guests. We are evolving as a company, we are always changing."

While the park can say they are listening to their guests, this news may actually be in direct response to recent changes of the law in California.

Congressman Adam Schiff recently announced that he's going to introduce

Steve-O's Going To Jail For That Crazy SeaWorld Crane Stunt — But He's Totally Fine With It! See His Response To The Sentence!

We don't think most people are this cool with being locked up.

Steve-O captured everyone's attention in August when he climbed on top of a construction crane with a giant, inflatable whale.

On Wednesday, the Jackass star shared that he had been sentenced to 30 days in prison for the stunt he pulled, which was all in the name of protesting SeaWorld's alleged animal abuse.

The 41-year-old took to Instagram after getting slapped with jail time. But instead of ranting and raving about being incarcerated, he actually admitted he was pretty cool with it, writing:

"Considering I've become a clean and sober, dog-rescuing vegan, I must say I'm ready to go to jail– not just because it will bring so much attention to the plight of orcas in captivity, but because it's nice to let people know I haven't lost my edge. What can I say, I'm a jackass."

We can't really say we're surprised he's going to be behind bars. He was charged with five different misdemeanors because police mistook his grand gesture for a suicidal man prepared to jump.

But, Steve-O actually seems happy that he's been sentenced, since he feels it gives his demonstration more meaning:
