Everyone do the Truffle Shuffle because we're SO EXCITED!!
After The Goonies director Richard Donner revealed that a sequel was in the works, mega fans of the 1985 cult classic were about as excited as Chunk eating a chocolate bar!
But they wondered in agony which original cast members would be a part of the second film.
At the 2014 ATX TV Festival, Sean aka Mikey revealed that he's totally in for the second flick:
Your childhood self is about to GEEK!
Over the weekend, Goonies director Richard Donner was out signing some autographs in Beverly Hills, when he was asked about a sequel to the 1985 cult classic.
His squeal-worthy answer was simply, "We're doing a sequel.”
We’re pretty sure Astin would love to be in it, since back in 2011 he said

Next year, Nickelodeon will bring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into the homes of a new generation of kiddies with a new animated series. So far, they've locked down Jason Biggs to voice Leonardo, Greg Cipes voicing Michelangelo, and Rob Paulsen voicing Donatello.
Today, the foursome was made complete as Sean Astin has signed on to voice red-masked, rude dude Raphael. According to Sean, the guys have already been in the studio to record a few voice overs and while it's been nerve-racking, it's also been a lot of fun! Sean explains:
"The crazy thing is that Rob Paulsen played Raphael in the original series, and now he’s playing Donatello and I’m playing Raphael. [At the recording session] I was looking at him, like, “Am I doing this right?”… I enjoy the world of the Turtles. These people who are doing [the new show], man, they are so fired up. They know they have something that people love, and that they’re getting a different crack at it. The producers recognize how much the fans of Ninja Turtles expect from the new show. With the new show, you’ll have one of two reactions: People will be fired up and excited, or people will be really skeptical. And the people who are fired up, you don’t want to disappoint them. And the people who are skeptical, you want to turn them."
Let's see if you can! The die hard fans will never 100% be onboard with anything that isn't the original, but if you're true to it, maybe they will come around. Having one of the original Turtles on your team won't hurt you either!
Turtle dudes and dudettes - are U excited for the new series???

Hmm, we don't think this is a good idea…
However, stars of the 1985 cult movie The Goonies, including Corey Feldman, who played Mouth, says that he along with his co-star Sean Astin, writer Steven Spielberg, and director Richard Donner want to reunite for a sequel.
"I would do it if [the studio] was serious, but unfortunately they can't seem to get it together. We all like to see it happen, but it's one of those stumbling blocks where no matter how much love there is … The No. 1 question that’s always been asked of me for the last 20 years is, 'Will there be a sequel to Goonies?,' and unfortunately my answer is always the same. It’s not up to me, you know, it's the studio.
They treasure this film, as you know. It is literally their greatest family film title of all time. That's the way they see it. It's always on the top 25, all DVD sales around the world all the time. If we go and throw a sequel out there that's lesser [in quality,] then suddenly we may hurt this continuous cash cow."
We still can't picture that anyone would be willing to shell out their dough to see a middle-aged Chunk, but to each their own.
And if the movie is such a money maker, wouldn't the studio be on board?? Maybe they agree that they should just let a classic remain a classic.
