Seattle Mariner Outfielder Stabbed To Death

Greg Halman

Ugh! This is awful!

Shortly after one international Major League Baseball player was rescued from a dangerous kidnapping experience in Venezuela, a Dutch player lost his life in the Netherlands.

Greg Halman, a Seattle Mariner outfielder with two seasons on the team under his belt, was stabbed to death on Monday.

Police arrested his 22-year-old brother whom they believe may be responsible, telling sources:

"He is under arrest and right now he is being questioned. It will take some time to figure out what exactly happened."

Such a shame! Our hearts go out to the Seattle Mariners and the Halman family as they deal with their unfortunate loss.

Seattle Mariner's 'Peanut Man' Dies

Peanut man

Seattle lost a baseball icon on Wednesday.

Although not a player or even a mascot, Safeco Field vendor Rick Kaminski has been entertaining Mariner's fans since 1977 by tossing bags of peanuts to hungry spectators with impeccable "speed and accuracy".

He became such a staple at Mariner's games that the team even took him with them to spring training!

Unfortunately, the 67-year-old vendor passed away in the hospital this week due to complications from a brain aneurysm.

Mariners president Chuck Armstrong released a heartfelt statement for the "Peanut Man", saying:

“On behalf of everyone at the Seattle Mariners, our deepest sympathies go out to Rick Kaminski’s partner, Candi, his family, his many friends and fans. Rick was a fixture at Seattle sporting events for as long as I can remember. His speed and accuracy with a bag of peanuts was matched by his quick wit and smile. He always seemed happy to see you, even if he was meeting you for the first time. Rick loved what he did and the fans loved him for it. He will be sorely missed at Safeco Field as well as Peoria, Ariz., where he got in his spring training along with everyone else.”

Aww! It sounds like Rick will be sorely missed and no one will ever be able to toss a bag of peanuts quite like he could!

On Friday, the Mariner's will honor their favorite food vendor with a moment of silence before the game.

Our hearts go out to those who knew him best and hope he may rest in peace!
