NFL Star Michael Bennett Will File Lawsuit Against Vegas Police — See His First Interview Since Being Violently Detained

The Las Vegas Metro Police Department picked the wrong black man to mistakenly detain.

Michael Bennett and his lawyer John Burris sat down with ABC News on Wednesday for the NFL star's first interview since he was detained at gunpoint by Vegas cops on August 27.

The two doubled down on claims that the Seattle Seahawks player was racially profiled when two officers reportedly ordered him to the ground and threatened to "blow [his] fucking head off" following a possible active shooter at a Vegas hotel.

Standing firm that he was targeted due to being a black man in the wrong place at the wrong time, the athlete claimed cops were physically and verbally abusive towards him until they learned he was an NFL player thanks to a Google search.

While recounting the harrowing experience, Bennett broke down when thinking about the possibility of never seeing his wife or children again. He also revealed the incident forced him to have a difficult conversation with his daughter about racial profiling in America.

Despite the Vegas Dept. receiving strong backing from the police community, Burris is planning on laying down the law against the law enforcement officers, revealing a lawsuit will be filed "unless something changes drastically that we don't know of."

Watch a clip of Bennett's gut-wrenching interview (below) and stay tuned for more developments.

That same day, the Las Vegas Metro Police Dept. undersheriff Kevin McMahill held a press conference justifying their decision to confront the football player, and says there is "no evidence that race played any role in this incident."

On Thursday, the president of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association — Nevada's largest police interest group — wrote an open letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell demanding they take action against the 31-year-old and his "false allegations."

Former NFL Star Marshawn Lynch Would Rather See Colin Kaepernick Protest The National Anthem Than 'Put His Hands Up & Get Murdered'

Marshawn Lynch just made a very powerful point in support of Colin Kaepernick.

In the wake of Tulsa police fatally shooting unarmed Terence Crutcher, the Seattle Seahawks alum just perfectly defended the quarterback's decision to peacefully protest the National Anthem.

On Tuesday, the retired NFL star joined Conan O'Brien on his late-night show to literally stand up for the San Francisco 49ers player, poignantly saying:

"With what's going on, I'd really rather see him take a knee, than stand up, put his hands up, and get murdered."

So incredibly well-said, while tragically highlighting the serious police profiling problem throughout our country.

The 30-year-old hopes Colin's movement causes a societal shift across the nation, which will make everyone aware of the racism that still exists, and ultimately end it, adding:

"My take on it is, sh*t's gotta start somewhere. And if that was the starting point, I just hope people open up their eyes to see that there's really a problem going on, and something needs to be done for it to stop."

The ex-running back also called out everyone against the athlete's harmless display:

"And, I mean, if you're really not racist, then you won't see what he's doing as a threat to America, but just addressing a problem that we have."

You're probably aware of San Francisco 49ers' Colin Kaepernick's National Anthem protest and all the controversy surrounding it.

So it should come as no surprise that it came up during last night's NFL season opener between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers.

Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall, who was former college teammates with the SF player, decided to side with Colin and kneel during the anthem in his game!

The protest was started by Kaepernick to help raise awareness for police brutality and social injustice against African-Americans as well as other minorities.

Obviously this caused quite a stir online, but the oddest backlash was when irritated fans tried to take their anger out on Brandon via Twitter — and tweeted the WRONG Brandon Marshall!

See, @BMarshall is a wide receiver on the New York Jets, but many fans didn't stop to double check before tweeting some vitriol! Some of the hate included:
