piracy-design-bill-passed-the-judiciary-committee.jpg

That was quick!

Faster than a pirate can produce a knockoff, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed the design piracy bill on Wednesday, less than a week after it was reintroduced.

Under the re-worked Innovative Design Protection Act, "deliberate copies that are substantially identical to the protected designs" would have protection for three years, something designers have been lobbying for for some time.

Last week, we were absolutely THRILLED to announce that the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to move forward with a bill THAT WOULD REPEAL THE DEFENSE OF MARRIAGE ACT!

As a reminder, DOMA "allows states not to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states and provides a federal definition for 'marriage' that excludes same-sex couples."

Senate Judiciary Committee Passes Copyright Infringement Act

making-knockoffs-are-now-harder-that-to-the-innovative-design-protection-and-piracy-prevention-act.jpg

On Wednesday morning the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the Innovative Design Protection and Piracy Prevention Act.

Under the IDPPA, both established and informal designers will receive copyright protection for their "unique and original designs".

Interesting.

We have a feeling there's going to be A LOT of lawsuits in the future.

What do U think of the IDPPA???
