president barack obama traveling boston speak services honor victim thursday

Shortly after addressing a grieving and shell-shocked nation, President Barack Obama revealed his plans to visit Boston and honor the victims of yesterday's horrific marathon bombings.

He will attend interfaith services on Thursday and speak at an event "dedicated to those who were gravely wounded or killed in Monday’s bombing."

Earlier our Commander-in-Chief confirmed our worst suspicions — yesterday's bombings were indeed acts of terror. The government plans to coordinate its efforts and

We're glad to hear that they were able to put their differences aside for the sake of this.

Although several of Whitney Houston's family members were opposed to having Bobby Brown at her funeral tomorrow in New Jersey, as many believe him to be responsible for the icon's descent into substance abuse, they've formally invited him to attend at the last minute!

Mel Begins Community Service!

mel-gibson-begins-community-service-parents-pleased

Let's hope he can put some positivity back into the world after all of the grief he's caused!

Mel Gibson got one lucky break when he pled no contest to simple battery - linked to his abuse of baby mama Oksana Grigorieva last year - and was sentenced to 16 hours of community service, which he is choosing to do at his ex-wife Robyn Gibson's charity, Mending Kids International, but it appears that some of the parents associated with the organization are more than supportive of his presence there!

One parent, James Nicol, has revealed that Mel was essential in aiding their Ethiopian-born son Berhanu get an expensive series of medical procedures to help fix severe spinal issues over the past few years, and is thrilled with any future assistance the actor can provide the charity!

He concludes:

"If Mel was coming over to our house to play ball with my son, I would not be the least bit concerned."

Wow. Here's hoping that we continue to hear such positive stories like this about the actor as he begins his community service.

He's getting off much more easy than he probably should, so we'd love to see him truly take advantage of this and make a sincere, conscious effort to better himself.

President Obama's 1996 Stance On Gay Rights

Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikBarack ObamaSad Sad

barack-obamas-1996-stance-on-gay-rights

Now that his previously-stated stances are out in the open, we think that he's definitely going to have some serious explaining to do!

Check out above a signed statement from President Barack Obama, from 1996 (above) in which he adamantly shows his support of not only gay marriage, but also funding for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS, as well as the right for same-sex couples to adopt!

Those points include:

I would support and co-sponsor a state civil rights bill for gays and lesbians.

I do not favor a statewide registry of names of people who test positive for HIV.

I favor an increase in funding for state AIDS services.

I favor more aggressive (and better funded) prevention programs, particularly targeted at young people and minority communities where infection rates continue to increase.

I favor mandatory Medicaid coverage for persons with HIV/AIDS.

I favor legalizing same-sex marriage, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriage.

I believe in the rights of gays and lesbians to become foster parents, adopt children and have the right to custody of their own children on the same basis of heterosexuals.

I support a woman's right to choose an abortion, favor Medicaid funding of abortions for poor women, and opppose parental notification laws.

I vigorously support existing affirmative action programs.

Wow.

It's just so disappointing to us that politics could get in the way of what someone believes, especially when that someone could really help progress this country toward the equal rights that everyone deserves.

Sad.

Tough Times Continue For Mel, His Church Gets Shut Down

Filed under: Icky Icky PooMel Gibson

mels church shuts down services

Unless The Beaver becomes a huge success and relaunches Mel's career, it looks like life will continue to be tough for Gibson.

To add to his plethora of pre-existing problems, Mel's church has stopped all congregational services, due to the fact that a photo of Mel's daughter was taken on church grounds and sent to the media.

Here's what a source had to say about Mel's reaction to the whole situation:

"[Mel was] extremely concerned about the invasion of privacy."

And more from the source:

"He is not just concerned that photos of his daughter were taken at the church, he is concerned for the privacy of his parishioners."

Here's what an email from Church Heads said about the suspension of services:

"There will be no Masses here at Holy Family Chapel until further notice."

According to the source, the Church will still offer limited services.

Well…it could always be worse, Mel but not much.

Do U feel bad for Mel?
