Ever since the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal, Penn State has been trying to recover from the devastating blow their reputation suffered.
It hasn't only cost them points in the arena of public opinion, but it's also cost them millions of dollars in legal fees, consultants and PR firms.
The school has had to deal with so much fallout from the scandal on a daily basis that the tab is close to $17,000,000!
Almost $10,000,000 of that money went to seven different firms for internal investigations and crisis communications, whatever all that means.
The university at least is trying to do things right and paying for everything out of pocket.
That is, tax payer money and student tuition are safe. The fines and fees are paid from insurance polices or interest revenue made on loans the university has given out.
So at least the students aren't being penalized for the inaction of a few men who failed to stand up to a pedophile.
