Prior to September 1, 2016, Jacob Wetterling's parents had spent nearly 27 years with practically no information about what happened to their 11-year-old son.
The St. Joseph, Minnesota family became victims of one of the most high-profile missing persons cases in American history when Jacob was taken on October 22, 1989… but the story finally got an ending when his remains were located last week.

Apparently, child porn suspect Danny Heinrich told authorities where they could find Jacob's body last Thursday, and finally on Tuesday completely admitted to kidnapping, sexually assaulting, and murdering the young boy.
The 53-year-old was the main suspect in the kidnapping ever since he was tied to 25 counts of child pornography in October of 2015, but police believe he was also responsible for a plethora of unreported crimes — including five other molestations that occurred around the time Jacob was initially taken, though the statute of limitations protects Danny in these cases.
