12-Year-Old Girl Broadcasts Her Suicide On Facebook Live — And Police Say They're Powerless To Take Down The Video
What a horrible way to go viral.
Georgia Police have failed to remove copies of a video circulating online showing a 12-year-old Georgia girl killing herself.
On December 30, Katelyn Nicole Davis (pictured above) broadcasted the suicide on Facebook Live, claiming she had been physically and sexually abused by a family member before hanging herself in the front yard of her Cedartown home.
Davis' family removed the video from her Facebook page, but copies of it were shared on blogs, YouTube pages, and other Facebook accounts.
Though YouTube removed the video because it violated its policy on graphic content, footage was still present of Facebook — and authorities now say they are powerless to remove it.
Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd said the department has been getting messages from around the world from people outraged by the video, but there's little police can do. He told local press:
