Bill Cosby Gets A Small Victory! A Judge Has Agreed To Delay His Wife's Deposition!

The judge says it's her legal right to appeal.

Bill Cosby is probably breathing a sigh of relief… for now, anyway.

On Tuesday, Judge David Hennessy granted the emergency motion to delay Camille Cosby's deposition in her husband's defamation case.

The 71-year-old's questioning was initially scheduled for Wednesday, but the U.S. Magistrate has ruled that it will be put off until after attorneys have had a chance to appeal his previous decision that ordered her to partake in the under-oath interview.

He wrote:

"It would not serve (and in fact would offend) the 'interest of justice' for this court to deny the motion for a stay, and thereby effectively deny Mrs. Cosby any right to appeal. In fairness then Mrs. Cosby's deposition shall be stayed [postponed] pending her appeal."

The deposition of the scandalized star's wife was requested in a civil case in which seven women claim that the actor drugged and sexually assaulted them.

The accusers' lawyer, Joseph Cammarata, is not concerned that he'll lose the appeal, telling People:

Bill's lawyers are trying to put a stop to Camille's deposition!

The pressure is on for Bill Cosby's lawyers.

On Monday, the scandalized star's attorneys filed an emergency motion to delay his wife's deposition for one of his defamation lawsuits.

According to court docs, the 78-year-old's legal representation is asking to hold off on Camille Cosby's questioning until they know the outcome of the appeal they filed.

As we previously reported, Judge David Hennessy denied her attempt to get out of testifying under oath regarding allegations that her husband drugged and sexually assaulted seven women.

But now, the comedian's lawyers are appealing that decision, and would like to prevent his lady love's deposition from happening before they find out if their motion is successful.

It'll be interesting to see if the justice system postpones Camille's testimony — which is scheduled for Wednesday — pending the appeal results.

We're also curious to see if a judge will rule in favor of the appeal, considering the accusers' lawyer says there's no "basis for appeal!"
