Usually in space no one can hear your scream, but not in the case of this companion piece to Gravity entitled Aningaaq.
In the movie Gravity, Sandra Bullock makes contact in her Russian space capsule with a man speaking a foreign language, and this short film shows the other side of that conversation!
Aningaaq follows the eponymous Inuit fisherman who receives transmission with Sandra's character, Ryan Stone. Just as Ryan is struggling to survive, she communicates with another human also living on the barren edge of existence in Greenland.
Houston, we don't have a problem rewatching this over and over, it's THAT poignant!
The short film, directed by the co-writer of Gravity Jonas Cuaron, might make history as it has been submitted for Oscar consideration for Best Live Action Short, in addition to Gravity being submitted for Best Picture.
If both get nominated, it will be the first time a film and a short film drawn from the same creative material would be receiving noms in the same year.
Ch-ch-check out the short film Aningaaq…AFTER THE JUMP!!!
