We would LOVE to be a judge on your new competition show, Mark Burnett! American Idol won't know what hit 'em! LOLs.
NBC is teaming up with Mark Burnett Productions to create a new competitor for American Idol and X Factor, called The Voice of America.
NBC's new show is based on the top-rated competition series from the Netherlands, The Voice of Holland.
The Voice has beaten out the Dutch Idol and X Factor…maybe the American version will follow the same path IF we're chosen to host!
Here's what NBC alternative chief Paul Telegedy had to say about the show's upcoming Spring launch:
"It's a bold move, it shows our confidence. But we've been busy fermenting a move into this genre for quite a few months. We've been at a state of DefCon 2."
The Voice's format consists of four coaches who listen to, but don't watch singers, and if they like the singer, they push a button that sends them to the next round, to be claimed as one of their "students."
If the singer is liked by more than one judge/coach, the singer is allowed to choose which one will coach them, and then coaches will have teams go head-to-head against each other.
Here's what Burnett had to say about the show:
"Somebody will show up with all the right moves and look like a star, but their voice is only good, not great, and they don't get chosen. You're dealing only with your sense of hearing — do you believe this voice is worthy of your commitment? The coaches have skin in the game and will be a part of the careers of these young performers after the show."
Sounds pretty cool…and it'll sound even cooler if we're approached to judge/coach! We'd be awesome!
…Just sayin'!
Team The Voice? Team Idol? Team X Factor? Team None of the above? Team ALL of the above?
