Whoopi Goldberg has cut her run on the West End production of Sister Act short after her mother suffered a stroke yesterday. Producers of the show say that Whoopi flew back stateside early this morning after hearing about her mother's illness and offered this sentiment to Whoopi:
"The thoughts and sincere best wishes of the producers and the entire 'Sister Act' company are with her at this difficult time."
We second that. Here's also hoping for a speedy recovery for Whoopi's mom.
As you well know, Whoopi originated the role of Sister Mary Clarence/ Doloris back in the 90's flicks. Now, for the stage version, Whoopi would be stepping into the shoes of Mother Superior, the role Dame Maggie Smith had in the films.
Whoopi will hopefully join the cast of the West End show for the production's final run in October. Then, the show is off to Broadway.
Maybe she'll reprise the role again once on Broadway! We'd love to see that!
Amy Schumer was performing this weekend in Greenville, South Carolina, and by all accounts having a pretty good time, until a fan ran up to her and scared her really badly as he tried to take a picture of the funnywoman!
Schumer relayed the story on her Instagram account, writing that she will no longer be taking pictures with fans because of the incident that occurred sometime Saturday morning in the South Carolina town.
