Songwriter Heather Bright Calls Out Some Artists

heather bright calls out artists

During a recent interview, songwriter Heather Bright called out certain artists for their "shady songwriting practices."

Here's Heather on whether or not artists take publishing credit and money, even if they didn't write their own songs:

"It depends on who you are. Rihanna takes publishing, Justin Bieber takes publishing, Kanye West takes publishing. On all the stuff that they don’t write, they take publishing."

Heather on Justin Bieber's Somebody to Love writing credit (a song she wrote):

"Umm… How did he get a writing credit on it? That’s an interesting question. I don’t know. (laughs)"

And here Heather with some praise for artists who do, in fact, write their own songs:

"You can’t be Rihanna and be producing and writing records. You just can’t be doing that. You just won’t have time. All the appearances, the performances, and the ‘this,’ and the ‘that,’ you gotta show up to record, you gotta promote the album, go on tour. I mean, people like Lady Gaga – It’s amazing that they can find time to write! They have to write on tour, all of those artists who actually write!"

What do U think of Heather Bright's comments? Is something rotten in the state of Denmark songwriting?

Exclusive! Akon Suing Former Booking Agent!

akon sues his former booking agent

Way to ensure that nobody ever signs with you again, American Talent Agency!

Perezhilton.com has learned exclusively that Akon has filed a lawsuit against his former booking agent, ATA, claiming that they continue "to take money from promoters [and] forge documentation to confirm unauthorized shows."

He fired them back in September for "failure to pay earned performance fees and booking unapproved appearances and performances," yet they continue to exploit the artist.

At this time, ATA has been instructed to "immediately stop providing any further booking services on Akon’s behalf or exploiting Akon’s name, picture or likeness for commercial purposes."

ATA also owes Akon $750,000+ in "performance fees for live shows Akon already performed," and in what may be their creepiest move, the agency continues to "falsely advertise itself as Akon's booking agent on the ATA website."

SO creepy and sketchy! We wish Akon all the best with this lawsuit.

Not cool at all, American Talent Agency. Not cool.

Thoughts???

UPDATE: A rep from ATA has contacted us and released the following statement:

"American Talent Agency was instrumental in building Akon’s international brand over their four year long relationship with him, including lucrative cellular company launches in Uganda and Guinea, The MTV Africa Music Awards in Kenya and a performance in Dubai, which was Akon’s highest paid performance to date.

Akon’s accusations of failure to pay earned performance fees and bookings of unapproved appearances and performances are untrue. Furthermore, the accusations that ATA continued to book Akon post termination in September 2010 are at odds with the fact that Akon willingly performed on the SummerBeatz Festival in Australia in November 2010, a booking secured through American Talent Agency.

In actuality, there are many performances for which Akon and Kon Live Touring Inc. owe American Talent Agency several thousands dollars over fees for dates booked by ATA and also several thousands of dollars for costs in connection with performances booked by ATA for which Akon unilaterally canceled or failed to appear, which American Talent Agency has had to absorb on behalf of Akon/Kon Live Touring Inc.

American Talent Agency does not think it appropriate to discuss in the press the financial numbers submitted by Akon in his claims, but vehemently deny the allegations set forth by Akon. ATA will vigorously defend the allegations made against them and will be bringing claims against Kon Live Touring Inc. and Akon individually."

Sketchy, Sketchy! Sarah Palin Uses Secret Facebook Account To Praise Herself

sarah palin uses secret facebook account to further her agenda

Maybe we should take a cue from Sarah and create a Facebook account called Lou Perez to praise ourselves. Ha!

Check out the image (above) of all the recent activity for "Lou Sarah," which is Sarah Palin's secret Facebook alias. And for those who are curious as to why she chose "Lou," it's because Sarah's middle name is Louise.

In case you're wondering how this info came up, Palin's Gmail address showed up in Frank Bailey's tell-all book that we mentioned yesterday. The folks at Wonkette searched for her Gmail address on Facebook, and "Lou Sarah" showed up.

As you can see, Lou's activity includes supporting Sarah Palin and Bristol Palin. Oh, and Lou is friends with some of Palin's "political appointees."

So yeah, we're sufficiently creeped/sketched out by this.

Do you have anything to say for yourself, Lou Sarah???

P.S. CLICK HERE to "like" Perez on Facebook!

P.P.S. CLICK HERE to "follow" Perez on Twitter!

New Sketchy Deets On Frankie Muniz Domestic Violence Disturbance!

Filed under: Icky Icky PooSad SadFrankie Muniz

new deets on frankie muniz domestic dispute situation

Get your story straight, Frankie!

Last we heard, Frankie Muniz put a gun to his own head during a domestic dispute with girlfriend Elycia Turnbow.

Now a rep for Muniz is claiming that a gun was NOT involved in the dispute, even though the police report says differently:

"Frankie and Elycia had an argument a few days ago. The police were called to the residence."

"A gun played no part in the argument and was voluntarily given to the police for safekeeping. There were no bruises and neither left the residence. He was not suicidal. She was not assaulted."

Muniz's rep also claims that the couple are "moving forward with their lives and with their relationship."

Sketchy…sketchy…sketchy…

Either someone is lying now, or someone was lying to the police. What's the deal?

And EVEN IF no gun was involved, there's clearly something wrong if an "argument" gets so heated that the cops need to be called. We still say Frankie needs to get help.

What do U think?
